Would like to see Poirier in the A next season, so that we can get a peek at him if we want when injuries come up. Also, progression.

LW Emile Poirier (Flames 1st-rd pick in 2013) is on road w/ #AHLHeat, along w/ Markus Granlund & Trevor Gillies, who are coming off injuries

Official schedule won't be released until the 21st as the AHL season ends April 20th and the Western Conference is close, but it should be somewhere around the 25th or 26th.
We won't be the home advantage and will probably end up with the first 2 at home and next 3 on the road.

Troy Ward expects all three players to get into lineup during 3-games-in-3-nights road trip – Poirier may play in two of the three games.

Granlund is a huge boost. Poirier should be an impact player as well, once he adjusts to the pro game

Poirier could go back to junior as an over-ager, but he would be far better off playing in the A.

Add these two, Granlund back, all the Flames re-assignments a few days ago. This is going to be awesome.
Can't wait for the playoffs.
Has Klimchuk made his debut yet or still injured?

That's definitely what most first round draft picks do

I noticed he was a +1 in his Heat debut; can't remember which game but it was on the scoresheet. No points though.

I wish we could get access to more Heat games on tv. I'd love to see this lineup.

Not if they're physically ready to play in the A.
When was the last time a first rounder played in the CHL as an over ager
Serious question. I can't remember the last time but my guuess is its been ages and probably a goalie.

I wasn't suggesting he should, I was merely stating what his options were in response to another poster's question.
Try taking comments in context next time

I'm sorry, so Poirier can play in the Heat playoff run and still play in junior next year?

Can someone clarify this, I don't think he would be what the CHL refers to as an "over-age" player. Emile doesn't turn 20 until mid-December. The season he just finished was listed as an 18 year old, next season would be his 19 year old season.
Not exactly sure what the rule is for him being able to play in the AHL next season but he wouldn't be listed as an over aged player in the QMJHL. The only thread that made me wish I was able to post in during my one month ban was the Poirier thread where everyone was incorrectly stating his age when comparing him to Cory Perry.

So can Klimchuk - and Kanzig for that matter.
Junior age players can play in the A once their junior season is over. If they are still of age next year, they go back to junior again.
For Klimchuk and Kanzig, they will be 19, so they would have to go back to junior. I was under the impression that Poirier would have to play as an over-ager if he wanted to go back, but MMF has cast some doubt on that.

Poirier has to play in the NHL, otherwise it's back to Gatineau for him. I don't see why he would be in the AHL as a 20 year old coming up from the CHL. He has to go to juniors as far as I am concerned, until I am proven wrong. If he was in NCAA he could go to AHL if he decided to leave college early, but you can't do that in the CHL.

If Poirier was 20 years old it wouldn't be a problem, that's the cut off for guys being allowed to play in the AHL when they're drafted from the CHL.
Poirier will be 19 next season (doesn't turn 20 until December), someone like Freeway can shed some light on this but apparently he is allowed to play in the AHL next year. I believe (could be wrong) Emile is allowed to play in the AHL at 19 because he turns 20 before December 31st.
I have no doubt I've just made things murkier and less clear. You're welcome.
