wow, there are a ridiculous number of movies set to expire at the end of the month on Netflix US.

edit- just remembered the netflix/starz play break up. thats why a 1000 movies or so will be disappearing.

Just got a small tv for the kids. What is the cheapest box that can play Netflix? I wouldn't mind getting a second Apple TV but if there is a drastically cheaper option I will probably go with that.

Certainly your kids have a Nintendo Wii?

If they don't, might be a similar price to an Apple TV though.

Yeah we have a Wii, but in addition to the kids having an obsession with sticking every random piece of paper or plastic in the disc slot, I would like to get something small enough that I can easily mount on the wall.

I don't know about mounting it on the wall, but I bought this cheapo for my wife to watch netflix on the bedroom TV. It's a very small unit, wireless for netflix and works great.

Can't beat it for the price.

Keep in mind there is a strong chance Apple will announce a new Apple TV within the next couple of weeks. Don't jump to any purchases if you don't have to.

I noticed this as well. I wonder if Netflix has plans to fill this substantial void

Apparently the Starz Play deal was worth $300 million a year, so there is some thought that this should free up money to pick up another contract.

Cool, lucky you.

I thought I'd try it out again, and my 7 day trial has been reactivated (unblock-us).

Trying to burn through Party Down before it gets removed.

Starz Play accounts for over 1000 movies on Netflix US... not sure about Canada.

Not the greatest movies, but a few gems like Scarface and Vertigo.

Here is a list of movies expiring in the next week or so. 1400 on Netflix US.

Yeah, I talked with the wife and we decided that we will hold off until the new Apple TV comes out and give our old one to the kids.

If you're looking for more content to watch on Netflix's Watch Instantly streaming service -- especially since all those Starz movies are exiting stage left at month's end -- we have good news, as it just announced a multi-year exclusive deal with The Weinstein Company.

I'm about to buy another PS3 pretty much exclusively for Netflix to use with the unblock-us DNS service so this is good news. I couldn't imagine being stuck with the Canadian content again. Could I manually set DNS on something like that cheap Blu-Ray player?

Couldn't you just get a cheap computer and run the stealthy add-on for your browser to get the same result? This way you wouldn't have to pay $5 / month for unblock-us.

You don't have to pay the $5 either way but on the PC, you have to keep registering for new trials every week. On PS3s and Android devices, there is no checking mechanism.

Is there some stealthy add-on that I don't know about that we haven't discussed in this thread?

I didn't know that you didn't have to pay when using a PS3 etc... Good to know.

The stealthy add-on for Firefox seems to do the same thing as unblock-us. Can watch Netflix US, Hulu etc... through your browser.
