I don't think there's any question that Gaudreau is the odds on favourite now, based on their current streaks:
Gaudreau: 6G 8A 14P in 12G
Forsberg..: 3G 3A 6P in 20G
Ekblad.....: 2G 2A 4P in 21G
Points aren't everything, but they are probably the most important thing.
Also, Gaudreau has been the most dynamic, visible, and in-the-spotlight of the 3 over the past while.
In fact, the other two have slowed so much, I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Stone, Haufman or Klingberg get one of the nominations.

I think it's going to be a toss up between Johnny and Ekblad, especially if neither of their teams make the playoffs.
However, if Calgary sneaks in I think you have to give it to Gaudreau. Electrifying player that heavily contributed to his team's success.

This video was just posted at Flames.com. David Jones son - who must be about two years old - was asked who his favorite Flame is and he replies "Johnny" - David Jones chuckles and says it is the first time they have heard that from him.

Forsberg with 3pts today takes the lead. Gaudreau Is going to have to light it up when they go head to head tomorrow.

Time to add Mark Stone to the thread title? If Ottawa makes it in and he has another couple big games he might just do it.

He pulled into a tie with Johnny and Forsberg for the scoring lead tonight, leads in plus/minus and has 6 GWG. He's also the league leader in takeaways...not the rookie leader, the league leader.
He's a finalist, but I don't think he wins it. Ottawa, like Calgary, seems well positioned for the future. They've also got Mike Hoffman with 27 goals, who won't even get a sniff for the Calder.

Both of Ottawa's guys are older though, 23 and 25 I think?

I think it's kind of been established a few times in here that age shouldn't matter which I agree with. While it is more impressive say what Ekblad is doing at his age, a rookie is still a rookie. Stone is going to make it a really tough top 3. One really good rookie isn't even going to be nominated and deciding between the 3 who remain will also be a very tough decision. Where Calgary and Ottawa finish the season likely will have an impact on things.

There are now 3 rookies with over 60 pts this season. This is the first time since '06/'07 (Malkin, Stastny, Kopitar). '05/'06 Crosby, Ovechkin, and Boyes all had over 60 pts.
In fact before then you would have to go all the way back to 92'/93' with Selanne, Lindros, and Juneau. So this is only the 3rd time in over 20 years it's happened.
Edit: That's wrong. Did more digging, Arnott, Renberg, Yashin and Ozolinsh did it in 93'/94' as well. Still over 20 years

I think (by a slight margin) Mark Stone has got to be the favourite right now. And he's 22, not 23 (don't think it matters though).

Stone hasn't done it over the course of the whole season, I think that hurts his chances. Gaudreau has been incredibly consistent all year.

Stone over Johnny Hockey? Yeah.. I don't think that flies.

Not sure why... Gaudreau is leading in points, has been a catalyst for the Flames, is easily the most skilled of the group, and has the sentiment from the east coast going for him as a bonus (something that's worked against potential Flames award winners many times in the past).
There's an impressive group, but I think Gaudreau is closely but clearly the leader.
