To be honest, I'm of the belief Bennett has no business being anywhere else but with the Flames main squad. I don't think the physical difference between the NHL and AHL is all that great and his play since returning form injury tells me he's ready to go.
Bennetts the kind of boost the roster can use. We'll see how it all shakes down but I believe he's ready to help CGY right now.

Does this mean he's not being traded to the Leafs?
Thank God.

For some reason, while I was against putting him in after his rehab, during the PO push, I am totally for putting him in in the actual POs.
Maybe it's because, if the Flames make it, the pressure is totally off as far as results go. They will be absolute underdogs. Also, there is way less cheapshotting in the POs.

Haha, the last couple of pages may have made this thread seem like the series isn't being discussed but there's a bunch of posts for each playoff game.
In fact all of this current discussion started after the second loss.

A few years ago, we called John Negrin up from Kootenay for the playoffs just so he could experience the atmosphere. I don't see any reason why we wouldn't do the same with Bennett even if management doesn't think he's ready for game action. I suspect that he'd force Hartley's hand after a few practices, but even if he didn't, I think the experience of a push for the playoffs would be valuable for his development.

You want to give him a taste so he develops a blood lust for the playoffs.

Say what? For the most part the whistles get put away in the playoffs. Playoff games are long, gruelling, physical affairs with lots of slashing, checking, hooking and the like. If anything, the playoffs get more physical. It's why on average you see the lighter, faster teams hit the wall in the playoffs.

I would be worried about Sam doing the cheap shots. LOL

You and I have different definitions. That's just normal physical play, albeit ramped up, not cheap shots (like Ritchie tonight). Bennett can handle that stuff.

I would love to see him in the playoffs we need someone to get that third line going every line has been noticeable in wins except them lately.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler
Bouma -Backlund - Jones
Bennet - Jooris - Colborne
Ferland - Stajan - Shore

Bennett is in the playoffs. Right now.
I'd like to see his team start having some success, and him leading them to it.
One step at a time.

I agree, this is good point. I observe Bob is primarily great psychologist and he could actually understand the situation and call him up.

Sam won't be the savior when he comes up but his skill, speed, and determination would be valuable assets for the Flames as they push for a spot and beyond.
Play him on the 3rd line and go from there

If Bennett can replace Raymond heading to the playoffs, that's a big upgrade.

I was going to say the same thing. If anything, the playoffs is where the physical intensity ramps up another level, and people really need to pay extra attention to cheapshots.

While I agree Bennett could make an impact on this team right now, I don't believe he's ready for the playoffs, because most of the flames will not be ready for the playoffs. Only a few on our roster have participated in a playoff game, and our team may very well be thrown to wolves under the pressure, especially without our captain.
I don't think Sam should be exposed to a possible first round circus. He needs regular season experience under his belt.
