Default Why does every hockey game in a bar look stretched?

They all look like 4:3 stretch out to fit a wide screen. Yet at the same time it looks oddly clear like it is actually HD. Is this a Bell thing or something?

From a distance modern LCD's and plasma's will still create a good picture from afar if they have a digital non HD signal. Aspect ratio cannot be changed on HD singnals so likely they just haven't invested in an HD decoder for each individual TV, and used the stretch feature to change the aspect ratio to fit the screen.

The HD signal on my Bell receiver sure can change the aspect ratio and stretch it way out of whack. Some TVs can also override a HD signal and also stretch the picture. I know my LG can.

My guess is that most bar employees are uneducated about their TV systems and haven't a clue how to get a proper picture and don't care much anyways.
