Out of shape prospect?
I was just watching Flames this Week with guests Ron Sutter and Rich Hesketh. An unnamed prospect was brought up that Darryl had pencilled into a roster spot with the big club this season. Unfortunately he showed up out of shape and was subsequently cut.
I suspect the player was Pelech. I fully expected him to make the team this year as I see him having more upside than Pardy.
Was it Pelech? What other near-ready prospect could it be?
(this may be old news but I don't recall the topic coming up)

I thought Pelech had a blood clot last year as a result of over training?

Pelech was the first name that popped into my head, but I thought Armstrong's name also. The only thing about Armstrong is that he has had injury problems and Darryl brought up his name about possibly making the team.
On another note, for the five minutes I caught of the show tonight, I was impressed by how well spoken Ron Sutter is.
Also, I do remember something about the blood issue/over-training with Pelech before as well. Also, didn't Pelech rank highly along with Brett Sutter with some those fitness results during training camp?

Definitely not Pelech. Kid is one of the fittest players on both the Heat and the Flames.

I watched this last night as well.
The names that immediately popped into my head were perhaps Pelech, Armstrong, Negrin, or Cunning.
But I highly doubt it was Armstrong because he's one of the team's most athletically fit players. Plus, he worked all summer with the Flames trainers to get into shape for training camp.
It could be Cunning. I personally thought he would be able to be a 13th forward on a 4th line because he has a crazy amount of energy and a nice scoring touch. I still think he could be one of the first called up for the Flames.
I could also see Pelech being this mystery 'unfit' player. I think both Sutters had him penciled in for a roster spot.
I also don't think Negrin was this unfit player. He was in the group of players, like Armstrong, who worked with the Flames training staff all summer. Plus, I personally think he's behind Pelech on the depth chart.
It really has me curious though. It much a huge slap in the face to whoever this player was knowing that they were expected to make the lineup, but didn't put enough effort into their training.

Could it have been Chucko? Even though in our minds he was a longshot to make the team, maybe in their mind's he was pretty close.

This is an old episode that was discussed at the time, and it was referring to last year, not this year. It appears that the player referred to was Kyle Greentree, who was moved shortly after.

Had an idea!

I seriously doubt it was Pelech. The guy was always in the top 5 physically in his age group fitness wise.

Makes sense. I didn't realize it was such an old episode.

I don't think Pelech would be it either, I remember when in his draft year, it said he was a supposed fitness freak. In addition to whats been said ahead.
Already said before its Greentree? Otherwise, maybe Chucko? Chucko's really fallen off the radar lately?

all of Chucko, Armstrong, Negrin and Pelech at least had excuses if they were out of shape since all have had some serious health issues... but yeah since it appears the episode was old Greentree makes alot of sense... another name that crossed my mind when I read it was old was Jaffray
