While Ferland isn't producing and the goals haven't especially been there, the shot attempt suppression number is really good, suggests they're keeping the puck out of the D-zone. But you could win your share of 2-1 games playing that way.
Seems like they both work out fine and you could probably stick a tree trunk out there and it would do fine as well since the other two players are very good.

Well, sure... if you downplay the fact that Johnny-Monny-Joe are still looking to score their first five on five goal together in over an hour of play together, and the fact that Ferland has better shot suppression numbers (and generation).

Personally I don't think Colborne works in that role because his decision making is not quick enough against top defensemen and centers, and he ends up doing that typical Joe Colborne play where he carries the puck from left to right behind the net along the boards, and then passes it into the middle of the ice for a rush the other way. Ferland works a lot better in the role because he makes quick, short passes and keeps his focus on being a screen man or a trigger man and let Johnny do his thing.

To be honest, I am happy Ferland is there instead of Colborne as Colborne only has a future on this team on a lower line - let him play on those units, see how he goes being a more key guy on a lesser unit, as you will need that evaluation to determine what he is worth as an RFA. he is not going to be a top line player, so why push it.
Ferland likely has more of a future also on the middle/lower lines, but you don't need to make a decision on him this offseason - you do with Colborne and Jooris though.

I'm not criticizing management or anything, just pointing out what's happened to that left side.
The only one there that I'm still disappointing with is Byron. That seemed like a free giveaway for no reason.

Sure, now it does, but that's easy to say in hindsight. Did anyone think so before the season started? Nope.

Besides, the Habs also suck, so there's that.

And 60 minutes is woefully inadequate to make much inference. That's not to say it's useless, it just needs to be taken with the appropriate grain of salt. It's akin to saying one team scores more than another after a week of games

Just picked up tickets to the game so will be making the trip down. Not expecting a win but at least a good showing and if not my fantasy team will benefit.
I'll have the white sunglasses on if anyone wants to say hi.

GFG!!!

(Sorry for piling on, but the 'starter pack' memes are my personal favorite. I can't pass up a chance to use one!)

Oh, sure. That's why I make sure to include ice-time as part of the stat table in the first place. But it's safe to say that Ferland on that line is far more worth exploring. And we're in explore mode since Hudler's gone.

No, the only Oakley product I have is the sticker covering up the back window in my truck.

Got offered my work tickets tonight but have the league championship game for volleyball tonight so I expect an amazing game.

6-1 Flames. Gaudreau with all 7 goals.

I'm going and fully expecting a loss.

Still excited, thanks to lowered expectations. A Gaudreau multi-point game would make it worth the trip.
