I wasn't planning on drinking tonight but if I have to watch game 2 I guess I don't have a choice. Watching the Jays is bad for my health.

If only there was a way to know that cheaping out on the bullpen was going to hurt this team!

The worst part is because of the weak bullpen they have been forced to overuse Biagini and his last few outing he has looked bad/tired.

Sure hitting is pathetic too, but 7 blown saves through 20 games. AGAIN we start the season like this. However, this year the hitting isn't/won't bail them out.

Reading the off-season thread sure is humorous now!

Just love the WBC. Send us back our closer with tweaked back and missing a few mph off his fastball. 3 blown saves in 6 appearances after coming off DL.

10-12 would be a lot easier to come back from than 6-16.

I was following the game till the 8th and thought we should have it in the bag. How many saves can we blow?

Well you can say one more. This one stings. On the bright side, we have a chance at redemption in just an hour or so.

Come on jays. Lets win this series.

at least we're not the rockies?

Nationals came to Coors for 3 games and scored 41 runs.

Not too many people telling me how i'm just negative and that it's ridiculous to spend money on your bullpen. 3 years in a row of this ####.

Time to blow this team up. You can't run with the big dogs if you aren't willing to up your budget when necessary to fill a need. People can point to the Jays top ten payroll all they want to try and say they aren't cheap, but they are. They could have started the season with a pen, they could have started the season with an actual Major League caliber outfield, but they didn't by choice.

I don't agree with the approach given the Toronto Blue Jays market (36M people), but it's time to trim payroll and build through the draft. We are never going to "buy" a team with Rogers at the helm and they aren't going anywhere. Let's stop pretending we are playing with the big boys. Let's go the Tampa Bay route, and at least when we do contend every 10 years or so, we will have an actual chance of winning.

they did try Storen one year.

not sure what strategy is the correct one. 1/2 the teams in MLB seems to be having closer problems.

Storen was on a serious decline when they got him. They got Storen because he only had 1 year left on his contact. They also shipped Ben Revere to Washington so that they didn't have to take on a dollar more of salary. If you remember, that trade was actually held up because Storen made a bit more than Revere and the Jays demanded Washington pick up that difference.

Hindsight is 20/20 and Revere has sucked since due to injuries, but a team that was actually serious about winning would have actually went out and signed the real deal instead of Storen and kept Revere unless something better came up to lead-off. Instead the Jays rolled the dice on a guy on his way out of the league, and started the season with an incompetent outfield and no lead off hitter. The no lead hitter issue continues to this day.

Good Lord. Glad it's not Friday night and I have the ability to pound rum during the game.

Big games coming up from Pearce and Salty!! We WILL do this!

Ahhhh...who am I kidding.

Maybe hoping for Salty to get DFA'd is a better thing at this point.

What a joke of a bullpen. Has been two years where it's been garbage.

Any idea why Gibbons didn't challenge that steal to 3rd? Looked like Coghlan even asked for it. And then the runner turns into a run after a sac fly.

2-0 already. Guess I should've expected it, but still.

Make that 3-0.

Why is Salty hitting ahead of Goins right now?
