Nope just posted this to test it

Thanks. Looks like it's just my office (in Elveden House) that is messed up. I didn't have any trouble when I went to lunch or even when walking around the +15s. Only when I got within a block or so of work did it stop being able to retrieve data. Guess that means I just have to surf on the company's internet connection.

I also bought an iPhone last night, however, since I am switching from prepaid (Fido) to a monthly plan (the 17.50 Killer plan), I had to call customer service to actually purchase the phone. Also, since my plan is less than $30/month, I had to pay an extra $50 for the phone.
Shipping is going to take awhile too since so many people are ordering it (and yesterday was the last day for the 6GB/$30 data plan), so I'm not getting my phone until Oct 24th.
I'm a little ticked off about that, but I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer.

So is it connecting to your work wifi but not actually transferring any data? Is your work wifi protected in some way? I know when I venture onto the UofC campus it tells me I'm connected, but nothing will actually work until I bring up a browser and sign in to the network. Or perhaps you mean even the 3g network doesn't work ... in which case this post is pretty much useless

Yeah, the 3G network appears to be the issue. Wifi is turned off.

Just a general heads up, I talked to a tech CSR yesterday and he said they're doing network upgrades all over the place...I couldn't get any calls out for an hour or so. Sucks ass but hopefully it makes it better long term.

With the new 2.1 firmware...
other than that stupid repeat notices for texts, sometimes after I check a text it still says I have one new one when I clearly don't. I have even resorted to turning the phone off and on, or deleting conversations, and all that. Doesn't seem to work, anyone else have this issue?

Someone above mentioned they are working on the system...perhaps that is the issue, I don't know.
I am getting really frustrated in trying to get custom ringtones onto my iPhone. Is there any real way of doing it with a Mac, using the newest iPhone firmware and the latest version of Garage Band? Nothing seems to be working for me.

^^ I don't have Garageband installed but can't you just drag and drop a song from iTunes into garageband, loop it, cut it to 40 seconds or less and Share > Send to iTunes as ringtone?

I actually just figured it out, I was missing one step.
-change start and stop times in iTunes
-convert to aac
-find file and change extension to .m4r
-erase song in iTunes but don't move to trash
-double click new file and it moves to ringtones section
-sync
