As for tonight's game, I'm hoping Sunday's game was the end of Iggy and Glencross' slumps.
I was very critical of the signing, less so about signing Stempniak but rather the signing of another average winger instead of creating greater depth down the middle, but Stemps has been really good. Arguably, the Flames best and most consistent forward, him or Stajan. We really are the old Maple Leafs YAY!!

Can someone post the facepalm pic ? Sven playing with Jackman and Begin? Neither of those two other players would be playing on ANY line on ANY other team..

From what I've noticed of Hartley is he seems to like at least one bigger body per line or at least that is the only justifiable reason to have comeau on the third line ahead of baertchi

as much as i disliked Phaneuf by the time he left, he was fricking awesome in a shootout one year against the wild where all he did was come down the centre of the ice and blasted a wicked slapshot off Backstrom's shoulder. hahahahahahhaa

Backstrom was all tentative for the next shooter and we won easily!

Babchuk you are up!

Three different symbols, three different jerseys.
The nickname is awful too. North Stars was so cool.

I think he might be right though, we were getting hurt a lot in the beginning matching talent with talent. Comeau has terrible finish but he generates chances and he hits, he should be with Baertschi and just follow him around and hit anyone that comes close to him. That would be the best utilization of the matching big bodies with talent because Jackman has been useless this year besides one shot.

I remember that game as well. Phaneuf went first. The next shooter scored (I think it was Iginla) ... the postgame quote was "Not hard to score when the goalie can't lift his arm".

I guess Datsyuk played 3rd line time but Zetterberg seemed to be getting a decent amount of ice time and neither saw the 4th line or anything close to an avg of under 10 mins a game.

Also not that suprising that guys on Presidents Trophy/Stanley Cup winning roster might have a tougher time cracking the top 6 than a guy on a non-play-off team desperately in need of developing young guys.

Datsyuk was 9th in ice time with 13:22 in his rookie season. Think I was mistaking the playoffs as regular season as that is when I would have seen Detroit play more. In the playoffs his rookie year Datsyuk only played 10:40/game.

Zetterberg was 5th with 16:11 which I admit I was wrong about, figured that Yzerman, Holmstrom, Larionov, and Lucky Luc would have been ahead of him on the depth chart.

Even with that in mind Baertschi has played 11:36 which would be 9th on the team with the regular players and has only played 4th line one game.

4-1 Flames.

Stajan with a π trick (slightly better than a hat trick).

So he, what, scores 3, then bounces the puck off Iginla for an assist?
