Glad they have taken Stajan off the 4th line. Him and glencross seemed to have good chemistry last year. I like Johnny with Backlund and Raymond .
Kind of feel bad for Byron being on the 4th line. The spark plug has been one of the flames best players. The only difference I would make is make Bouma 4th line center and swap Byron to Setoguchi line with Setoguchi playing on wing on the 4th line.

The driver checks the mirror seven minutes late
The crowded riders' restlessness enunciates
The Guess Who sucked, the Jets were lousy anyway
The same route everyday
And in the turning lane
Someone's stalled again
He's talking to himself
And hears the price of gas repeat his phrase
I hate Winnipeg

The Jets annoy me so damn much.
Hope they get shutout so we don't hear that stupid train horn.

Those lines look interesting. Other than Gaudreau playing with Backlund, I'm excited to see if Colborne and Monahan can capture that chemistry they had last season again. Although he hasn't looked bad at Centre, I like Colborne as a winger more.
Oh and here's to the Flames reaffirming that Winnipeg is no good.

In another thread someone asked for posters opinions about the Flames record through the first seven, and tonight's game was the only other game besides the 2 free points in Edmonton that I had predicted as a Calgary win.
A loss to the Jets would be embarrassing.

Yeah the only thing I don't like about that is Byron on the 4th line, but glad Stajan is getting a chance to do something on the 2nd. And glad to see Johnny with Backlund!
Back to being excited for flames games!

I still don't see it working. Like Colbprne and Raymond, Backlund likes to carry the puck, and if Johnny's linemates are carrying the puck it means he isnt.
Johnny's struggles this early season are really similar to the wjc a few years ago when the US coach started him off with Grimaldi who hogged the puck and never passed to Johnny, It completely neutralized him.
Johnny started to dominate as soon as he got paired with some crash and bang types like JT Miller and became the puck carrier and play maker.
Of the centremen on the Flames roster that I see having the most potential success with Johnny, it's only Stajan and Monahan. Monahan inarticulate should be really effective because he has the size and the finishing ability to get into scoring position and Johnny has the vision to find him.
Colborne and Raymond are just terrible linemates for Johnny, je'd honestly find more success with Bollig and McGrattan.

Sorry for the late arrival of my GDT…late to rise this morning and I'm on the West Coast at the moment. It is now posted if anyone cares to read it.
Edit: nevermind, I'll just add it to this thread.
The Flames are tired…oh so tired. They only seemed to have enough energy for a 3rd period push last game in Columbus, after a disastrous first 10 minutes followed by some pretty even play between both teams. This is the last game in a long, 11 day, 6 game road trip to begin the year, where the longest stretch between games was all of 2 days. It's been an up and down affair on this trip, with good stretches of play and pretty abysmal stretches of play. However, the Flames have managed a 3-2 record so far on this trip with some gutsy efforts in Chicago and Nashville being the highlights.
The Jets on the other hand are rested, playing just once in the last 7 days, a 2-0 shutout loss to the Predators. They have not fared very well so far this year, going 1-3 with the lone win being the season opener where they scored 6 goals against the Coyotes. Since that game, they have scored just 1 goal in 3 games. Offense is supposed to be the Jets strength this year, but it hasn't been present lately. It's not for a lack of chances as the Jets are around the league average in shots per game, but the power play hasn't scored a single goal yet, albeit in only 12 opportunities. It doesn't help to have Evander Kane injured when the offense is struggling. On the flip side, the Jets have one of the four 100% PKs to start the year, killing all 18 penalties so far.
The Flames will be without their spark plug in the last game, Josh Jooris, as he nurses an upper body injury that is likely day-to-day, but could be worse. That factor, along with the speed of the Jets, means that both Gaudreau and Setoguchi will likely slide back into the lineup. No updates for Engelland, meaning he will likely sit out again while he recovers, and Jones is out for the foreseeable future. Hiller gets the start tonight.
Lineups are mere guesses. More information will be made available throughout the day. Wills tweeted possible Flames lineups.

3-2-0 on the road trip so far. Would be a really successful roadtrip if the Flames ended 4-2-0 but 3-3-0 would also be better than expectation imo.
With that being said, 4-1 Calgary win! Hiller stands on his head and Gaudreau with his first NHL assist

Agreed about the comment that Johnny might be better than Monahan but I think Backlund will actually pass Johnny the puck.. His hockey smarts are better than Colborne so I think we are going to see some Johnny improvement today.
