Red Wings thumped the Leafs. Leafs do lead the league in jersey tosses though, seeing two hit the ice tonight.

Up in Edmonton, Oilers doing nothing of note against the Canucks. Lucky to be tied after one.

Did they change the errant-stick rule? Arcobello just (by accident) hit Hamhuis in the face with his stick and drew a lot of blood. No call. Did they change the rule?

I think the refs just flat out missed it. Can't really call it based on blood. Could be wrong though

Amazing coverage by the Oilers. Turnover in own zone leads to easy goal by Vrbata after Fayne and Purcell both cover the wrong guy.

Another "this guy scored" meme worthy.

Agreed. Petry actually did well to not drive the player through the boards there.

I thought there would be more going on here about dee Oilerz game. Wow.

Another thing, why does their arena music always sound so tinny? Just sounds like junk from a transistor radio.

I wouldn't call running into a hot goaltender terrible. We out shot the preds but lack finish. Jets are below average.

You have scored 1 goal in nine and a half periods. That isn't just a hot goaltender.

They probably hold a transistor radio up to a microphone.

Completely unrelated: When Foster Hewitt called his first hockey games, he did so by calling the radio station from the arena, and they would hold the phone up to the mic. Hewitt was periodically interrupted by the operator (shared telephone lines back then) asking him to get the hell off so someone else could make a call.

Hall made a nice defensive play there that probably saved a goal. Even a stopped clock is right a couple times a day.

Almost a hitless game. No one seems to play with much emotion. If dee Oilerz (sorry, can't say that crap any other way), they will be under heavy pressure, let alone lose the game.

Definitely a good play. Of course, Oilers fans will apply a liberal dose of confirmation bias to pretend that completely erases the multitude of terrible defensive plays he's made already this year.
