The only thing I question here is was Kane a bigger prospect then Hall at the time? Hopkins and Yakupov I'll definitely give you, but I think Hall was just as big of (if not bigger) prospect at the time. The only advantages Kane had I suppose is that he can play center and is American (which does work better in a market like Chicago).

If I had to rank them since Crosby draft it would go in this order in terms of hype:

Stamkos
Tavares
MacKinnon
Kane
Hall
Ekblad
Hopkins
Yakupov
Johnson

There is and never has been any draft lottery conspiracy. A significant number of NHL teams simply would not stand for it.
Copperfield fooled a thousand people into thinking the Statue of Liberty vanished...just sayin'

Basketball doesn't hide their lottery and either should hockey IMO. Zero reason they couldn't at least show a tape of the draw after flippng the cards from 5-1.

"Just saying'" what exactly? That the 2005 draft lottery was fixed?

No. It was not.

For the real conspiracy theorists, then the only thing that makes sense is:

Florida gets McDavid
Carolina gets Eichel
(or vice versa)

NHL media guys hype this as a huge rivalry.

Phoenix gets Hannifin - they love their defencemen anyways.

Calgary have been doing too well at the ticket office for them to help. Buffalo gets the 4th pick with Strome or Kylington or whomever else ends up becoming the 4th best.

Edmonton.. well... they sell out anyways, and the NHL has had a number of years invested in trying to make them a winner. Sometimes you can't help those unless they want to help themselves, and Edmonton is simply no good at helping themselves.

Edmonton will have the opportunity to draft McDavid but will instead draft Bill Bumface.
