It might be a puff piece but it is actually a balanced and well written article, this coming from a Conservative.

I like the fact that Trudeau engages with people, that he is putting Canada on the world stage, but most of the time, he never actually says anything substantial.

Well right or wrong here in Iceland I've never seen Canada in our local media as much as with him as PM and the image of Canada as being this progressive and leader socially of the world. People keep looking to Canada especially when you look at all the bad news coming out of the Trump presidency, so that helps his image a lot.

Macron in France is starting to catch that wave of love as well, he's become in European news the leader of the EU.

1: Revenue neutral middle-class tax cut

Trudeau said his middle class tax cut would pay for itself. It hasn’t. The tax cut is costing all Canadians $1.2 billion annually from the federal treasury, a classic case of robbing Peter to pay Paul.

2: Small business tax cut

Trudeau promised to lower the rate from 11% to 9%. He hasn’t.

3: Modest deficits

Trudeau said annual deficits over his first term in office would total $24.1 billion. Last week’s federal budget pegs them at $93.3 billion, an immodest increase of 287%.

My only issue with Trudeau so far is that he is letting aboriginals down. They had a lot of hope that he would be be different from Harper, but so far he has not really advanced that agenda. Some of my aboriginal friends saw his election as finally getting a "settler ally" as a PM, and now they have done a 180.

It's not too late of course, but he needs to make it more of a priority IMO.
