Default 2016 Tennis Thread

Milos Raonic is off to a good start in 2016 at the MWTC. He beat Wawrinka 7-5, 7-5 to set up a meeting with Nadal in the final.

Seems like a fun exhibition tournament to get things going:

Here's to a great year for Canada's talent on the courts!

kind of like with Roger and Ljubicic, kind of an odd clash of styles on the surface but maybe it'll work out on more of a mental fortitude level. or heck maybe Milos is saying to hell with that Wimbledon trophy, I want me some Coupe des Mousquetaires instead.

Straight sets win for Genie today. She's advanced to the quarter-finals of China's Shenzhen Open.

There was much to like about the way Bouchard played and competed.

She served at 73 per cent in the first set. In the second, that dropped to 52 per cent, but she was more effective on second serve, and she didn't face a break point.

Bouchard connected on just 58 per cent of her first serves, and failed to convert five break points.

hahaha the funny thing is that Sock doesn't have to tell Hewitt to challenge, he can just give the point, or offer to replay the point. It was the when the ump said 'first serve' that's when Hewitt went wait a sec, that's not fair either, lets just look at hawkeye to make sure.

Milos is in the semifinal of Brisbane after beating Pouille 6-4, 6-4. He'll face either Nishiroki or Tomic next.

That's a big break for Milos, frankly.

Yeah, although Tomic will have the home crowd support behind him. Good luck Milos, the other semi-final between Fed and Dominic Thiem should be very interesting (the master vs. the young apprentice).
