Default Tour of Alberta 2016

Was really looking forward to watchnig this on TV, turns out they aren't broadcasting this year! Just the Tour Tracker app/webpage, looks like it will have the race. Hopefully you can watch it not-live. I was hunting the guide for it to PVR and couldn't find it.

How come it hasn't been in Calgary for a while? Or did I just miss it?

I think they're trying to move it all over the province.

Still, it's strange that they've skipped over Calgary two years in a row. Made sense last year when it went from the Peace country south. Makes less sense this year when it starts in Lethbridge.

It's been in Edmonton every year though. I do recall there being talk of having a northern tour for two years and then a southern one for the next two. However, it's taking place as far south as Lethbridge this year. It could be that Calgary isn't seeing enough value for money.

There are financial reasons for that on top of the time of year not being ideal for volunteers at the end of the etc. It really does seem like a pretty big expenditure for an event that won't be on television anymore and really only lasts a few hours, especially for outlying communities much smaller than Calgary.

I haven't attended any of these legs before so I'm making some assumptions, but I'm guessing the City feels the cost is way too high for the smaller niche crowds an event like this would draw.

Looks like you can watch the video live from the mobile app. It's available on iOS and Android.

Well in that case, it seems like this event won't be long for the world.
