Sure they do. The DoPS has no consistency regarding suspensions.

Except when it does.
I don't think people are saying it wasn't a dirty play, or even one that warranted a suspension... it's the clear lack of consistency.
Hall's elbow was way more violent and didn't result in a suspension.

So why doesn't the NHL explain why this play which they call elbowing, is worth a two game suspension, and the Taylor Hall hit on Kassian was not even reviewed - when it was an even more blatant elbow?

Can he play on this road trip if there's an appeal?

Looks like it's not just Sportsnet. Not even the NHL knows our players. Look at the NHL front page right now. Photo of Ferland

The speed, motion and angle with which the arm is thrown back / up. Classic accidentally on purpose.

This league is such a joke. Can't really argue the suspension but at least have some f###### consistency.

I voted 2, thought he deserved 1 but like another poster said I feel like it's been cumulative. He will be fine the team will be fine. He deserved some sort of punishment.

I also said that it's likely a cumulative punishment for 2 slewfoots, a headbutt and a cross-check facefirst into the ice that went unaddressed.
Don't kid yourself that Hall elbowing a nothing player like Kassian is relevant on the same tier as Tkachuk elbowing top 10 defenseman Drew Doughty. All sports leagues protect their stars. Don't be naive.

So assuming Ferland returns against the Caps, will Lazar now take Tkachuks place on that line ?

No, the appeal will last until November and be reduced to one game, months after the fact that he already served two games.

God, if I have to hear "flames goggles" or "homer" one more time from our fans. FFS, we've had those two posted about 150 F-in times in the last two days. Shut up.

Ferland won't. He didn't join the team in Washington. Maybe in Nashville?

I'm absolutely not naive to the fact that there are tiers, that's literally my point.
You're the one that said "this league does not take hits to the head lightly." THAT'S being naive.
