How does this work if you live in a condo?

I'd like my thermostat replaced but its connected to the building systems.

This is exactly why this government program is the dumbest thing ever. They just incentivized me to be wasteful.

And I'll probably do it since it makes economic sense for me to do so.

I wonder how this works from a warranty perspective for certain products?

If they have somebody install shower heads and thermostats and I have an issue with them later on, is the government going to warranty the work?

The cost of getting a plumber who's a heating expert along with basic repairs could be quite expensive. I understand that these are basic items to replace but I am looking more across the board.

I was hoping they would replace both the one in my house and the one in my garage.... But if not I might just do this.

Perhaps it was all an elaborate hoax?

It said in the email they sent me that the replacement schedule will be based on the number of registrations in each area. To minimize travel I assume there will be a sign up period, probably lasting several months, so they can more efficiently handle all the requests.

They might be offering fridges and washing machines...

Child tax benefit was taken away by Libs, NDP added carbon tax (but not for all) so lets see if I can profit off this program at all.

Rumor has it that Ecofitt hired 70 employees to install bulbs and such in 80,000 homes that registered for the program. You might be waiting a very long time.

The average older home probably has 40 or so light bulbs and a newer build probably double that. 80,000 bulbs is maybe 1000 homes?

Wait till you see the end game of this "program" according to a business owner who bid on this thing that ecofit won.

According to him it was stated right in the tender to go back to the government (BTW ecofit was not the lowest bid but that's another discussion ) was a very strong indication that once this initial phase was complete that the effing NDP was then going to take over things and make this a crown corporation....and unionize all employees.

This would pit the provincial government in direct competition in yet another area...and gains private business.

This govt is beyond absurd.

This seems like propaganda and isn't very believable to be honest.

And don't know if you've been involved in bidding before but the lowest bid isn't always awarded the job. Price is just one of many factors in making a decision.

I just wanted to point out that all the people that are pissed off by this but still signed up for it are the worst.

If the remaining 50 NDP supporters signed up and that was it, this wouldn't be a very expensive project at a time we don't have money to hire light bulb changers.

The problem is there aren't 50 NDP supporters. There are tens if not hundreds of thousands.

So if I am already subsidizing these people the natural reaction is to want to be part of your subsidation

I don't understand your disdain for me. I have two options:

1. Continue to slowly change over at my own expense
2. Let the NDP change me over all at once for free

Now if everyone else is getting free bulbs and reaping the savings on their bills (notwithstanding the extra taxes we'll pay), then why would I be a hero and pay out of my own pocket?

The way I figure, once the full cost of this ridiculous program gets tallied, it will be a huge piece of ammo for the opposition in the next election. So not only am I getting "free" light bulbs, I'm helping to sink these fools.

I realize there are many factors...but apparently the government made the claim ecofit was the cheapest, yet they weren't. That would be a lie if true...something i think people may want to know. It certainly wouldnt be a first for this or any government.

If you are truly interested in what David Gray who is CEO of Aim Energy and the guy who was involved in the process and makes the claim has to say, he did an interview with Danielle Smith a couple days ago.

There is no reason not too.

The NDP is willing to spend the money taken from me through the carbon tax and return a portion of it by doing upgrades for me that I was going to do anyway.

If you were planning on doing these kind of things anyway, you'd be a fool not to take advantage.
