I think they will be as well, and frankly I expect them to come out firing next week against Spurs. I doubt they'll roll over and a wounded Chelsea is bad news for us.

I'm fully in the Huddersfield bandwagon. Got some good friends down here who are hardcore supporters from there, was really fun following the promotion playoffs with 2am start times!

City
United
Chelsea
Arsenal
Everton
Spurs
Liverpool (assuming they lose Coutinho)

.
Last: Brighton. Based on today not a matter of if but when they get relegated. I get it was City but they look terrible.

Why did Chelsea sell Matic to a PL rival again? He's been great.

No wonder Conte was pissed.

Pogba looks more comfortable with Matic providing coverage there so far as well.

I already love Matic, what a player. A perfect fit for United. Thanks Chelsea!

Could've been what 7-8 to 0? West Ham looked brutal and United just battered them.

Yeah I honestly don't recall Uniteds centre backs being challenged outside of the one chance at the end of the first half - I still feel like that position might be their weakness against some of the top teams.

However the strong midfield will provide them with the needed protection.

Today nothing got past Matic, Pogba, Valencia, and Blind and United were pretty much playing a 2-4-3-1 because of it.

In fairness to our CB's performance, Jones started. He's a squad player if there ever were one, and looked pretty good doing so. He has Lindeloff & Smalling ahead of him on the pecking order, when all are fit & healthy.

Watched the replay of that Chicharito bomb right at de Gea to close the 1st half. That befall's Blind -- wondering around, caught out of position. Jones had two players to cover.

I stressed it last season, but Blind makes boneheaded mistakes too often.

Shaw will be an option and Rojo as well at left back so it's covered pretty well. United have looked good throughout the preseason and its carried right on into the opener. The offense is just rolling with pace and power and creativity.

disagree. To me, Jones is #2 if he's fit ... quality has never been an issue with him. He's just made of glass, that's the problem.

I agree that LB would be an obvious area to strengthen. Blind and Darmian are very meh, and while I'd love Shaw to stay healthy and make the position his own, it's quite doubtful that it's going to happen. I'd be very happy if they signed another LB before the end of August.

Yeah that's a fair comment, and I agree looking back.

He was even selected into BBC's choice 11, of the past weekend.

Who knows how much truth there is to this, but apparently Klopp is furious that Coutinho is being sold and considering walking. I can see him being livid (obviously), but have a hard time thinking he would walk. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I can't see it. Klopp stayed at Dortmund despite losing Götze, Lewandowski, Kagawa and others - I'd be surprised if his decision were different this time.

If there's a manager of a top club walking at some point this season, I think it'll be Conte.

That made me chuckle. The West Ham-Man U game did not, but Manchester United is very good, and I think they have a shot at a title.

West Ham's fitness looked poor.

How'd Hart look to you?

I feel he should've got a hand on Pogba's goal. Other than that, I think he was quite good.
