It really is sad just how much of a liability Vlad has been.

What an absolute shame.

So much for losing that weight and supposedly becoming more fit.

Maybe the Jays have to pony up and have Encarnacion become a full time employee and come on the road?

Vlad seemed to be better that homestand with EE was in the bench, the camera had them chatting a lot.

I'm far from giving up on him but he needs something, and maybe it's to be lead and further helped along to realize potential. You'd hope he'd already be there but clearly not. Bo could probably use a dose of that guidance too.

Vets like Turner or Kiermier or Belt last year aren't really going to take Vladdy under their wing (Bo moreso). Vlad was buddies with Teoscar as we know, but still seems to need that mentor...if it's EE that he feels comfortable with, then so be it.

Vlads batted ball profiles seem to be better this year and in some ways coming into line with 2021. He just isn't barreling the ball. His walks are way up which is great.

I think once the kid gets hot, he's gonna stay hot.

Rumor has it KK is going to the IL and Addison Barger has been called up.

Barger is tearing AAA up after a slow start.

If this is true we'll get Varsho in CF ad I'm not sure who will go into left as Barger plays 3B and RF. Maybe the move Springer over to LF although he hasn't played there much in his career.

The rookie I would imagine, would have to play LF. No way they’ll move Springer to the left side for a guy who hasn’t played an mlb game.

When Barger makes his major league debut, he will look to bring some much needed power from the left side to a Toronto club that has not scored more than five runs since April 6.
That's a damning stat

Sure they are winning because the offense is doing just enough to win. But we saw how well the worked last year...

Would love to see Barger and Horwitz called up with the KK injury and dump Vogelbach. Get Horwitz more reps a 1st in the major leagues. Quit handling Bo and Vladdy with kid gloves. This is the majors do what is needed to win. Poor play should get you benched.

I don't even know why Vogelbach is on the roster.

Yep, they won 89 games and made the playoffs for the 3 time in 4 years

Because Votto stepped on a bat and Horwitz is better off playing lots in AAA than riding the pine in MLB, that's my guess.

Like Jeff Blair said about a month ago, they're past the point where just making the playoffs should be viewed as a successful season. Atleast a series win would be considered a success and they can't even win a game.

They won the same amount of playoff games as Baltimore (100 wins), Tampa (99 wins) and the Dodgers (101 wins).

The goal is to build a team that makes the post season as many times as possible in a span of years to increase your odds of winning a WS in that time frame.

As you can see from the above numbers, the playoffs in MLB are a crap shoot.

Atlanta won the WS when they didn't even win 90 games. They've won 100+ every year since and haven't even come close again.

The Dodgers win 95 to 100+ every year for like a dozen years and have only one WS title in that time.

Arizona went to WS with an 84 win team lol
Got beat by 90 win team that absolutely tanked for the last two months last season and barely even made the playoffs after leading their division for like 5 months straight.

Win games, get to playoffs, hope enough of your players are hot at the right time to go far.

Right now the Jays are winning games so who cares if they aren't scoring more than 5 runs. Their team is built around pitching and defense. These results are not surprising.

Vogelbach was signed long before Votto. He basically goes against every philosophy the jays have at the moment. A complete head scratcher. I am not even a fan of Horwitz and I think he should be on this roster. The flexibility alone is worth it. He's 26, there is not much development left. He would be fine in the majors riding the bench. And the way Vladdy is playing he should be getting the odd start.

Barger called up and in the lineup tonight. LF I assume. Hope he runs with it.

Use to go to a lot of Canadians games. The seats were right behind the on deck circle. My buddy and I would joke that the only reason our wive's come to the games is to see Barger in his tight pants. Will be happy to see if he continues that trend into the major leagues.

Vogelbach was going to be a platoon with Turner. Righty/Lefty situation. But with Turner being the only consistent with the bat and Vladdy insisting on playing every day. It doesn't leave a lot of room for the big lefty. I'm really hoping Vladdy gets a break here shortly. They were talking about him on the Rose Rotation on Jomboy media. Seems the rest of the league is starting to catch on the what Vladdy is and how 2021 was the anomaly.

Personally I thought Vogelbach was a worthwhile gamble for DH as long as he was mashing. In the preseason he was doing alright. But now I do scratch my head.

Tough first play for Barger. But you gotta catch that. Looks like he had a poor read off the bat and initially broke in. Then could never recover.
