Not sure why he would get claimed. Who would he be an upgrade on? Kevin Poulin is him but a year older and more NHL experience

While true, it appears like our other two goalies get the opportunity to "work through their struggles".

It's basically impossible to make the playoffs. Not sure why we give two f#$%s about two UFA goalies "working through their struggles" and the only asset we have signed past this year that could play NHL games next season is getting the ride Ortio is.

So which of Hiller/Ramo are we going to re-sign for next year? Both?

Don't know how he could be happy with the past few months. Bad asset management.
Rumblings that Ortio has not looked good in practice.

I mean, you need to start somewhere.

The one team I could see claiming him is Edmonton, and I'd love to see him behind that defence.

Clearly they just want to train Ortio in California so he can beat the curse next time they play Anaheim.

Yeah, Treliving has really bungled the whole goaltending situation this year. This was the year Ortio was supposed to be given and shot. And he really hasn't. Instead, the team has vacillated between two guys were never going to be part of the solution beyond this season.

I've heard the excuse that every game is so important that we can't afford to put Ortio in. Look at the NHL today. When is this magical time of the season where every game doesn't count? If you want to develop goalies you have to play them.

Completely irrelevant, but as much as this goalie situation has been handled poorly, it's not even in the same ballpark as Vancouver (I still find that hilarious)

The 2015-16 Oilers are better defensively than the 2015-16 Flames.

This has been stated a lot here but I thought in both games he started we looked fine, good even, outplaying the other team until Ortio let in absolute garbage goals that deflated the whole team. Unscreened shots from low danger areas.

If he gets claimed so be it. If he clears fine but if Hiller is ready either way this 3 goalies up since game 1 was stupid. It has effected the team and had to come to an end.

Hence why Ortio has also looked terrible for us.

Doesn't Winnipeg and Toronto have goalie injuries right now? Maybe Toronto as a destination?

It's not management's fault that he played incredibly poorly in his starts and then had Ramo come back in and significantly outperform him.

So are we waiting to see if Ortio is claimed before reacting, or are we automatically calling Treliving the worst GM in club history and demanding that he be canned? Which way is the wind blowing on this, CP?

Hopefully he's a pro and not a prima donna.

Is it actually true that he hasnt been good in practice? I recall reading someone asking it as a question, never actually saw it posted that 'yes, have watched him be horrible in multiple practices'. But then this assumption has been made that he has been.

I want the truth...I can handle truth.

Which goalies are given NHL playing time to develop???

Goalies either come in, play well, or they don't.

This isn't the end for Ortio in Calgary (probably) it just means he's being sent down, like Ramo was a month ago. If he clears he'll go to Stockton, play a bunch and hopefully continue to develop at the age of 24, young for a netminder. Could be back at some point this season, who knows.
