I have no doubt that Snow will get very good value for Hamonic, even if that means Hamonic ends up somewhere outside Western Canada.
So basically he needs to trade with Chia.

So what?

Is Hamonic going to fly home to Winnipeg after practice everyday?

How often do NHLers get more then one day off in a row without a practice/game/travel/team function?

I don't think its very often at all. Probably once or twice a month at most. He's really not gaining anything going to Calgary/Edmonton if he wants to be close to home. Toronto or Montreal and a handful of US cities would work just as well.

There's a really big difference between a flight that remains inside of Canada and 1 that doesn't. Even if you have your Nexus card. But ya really I think it's the Jets or bust if it comes completely down to the players happiness.

You're looking at it from the wrong angle.

If he is at least closer geographically, then it makes it faster and often more economical for family to come and visit him and they can probably stay longer.

The press is saying Chia has been very aggressive in pushing for a trade.
His 30th place team needs Hamonic more then any of the teams shopping for D.

Problem for Chia is that the isles do not want the soft forwards Chia is pushing, Yak and Eberle. And Schultz is too big a downgrade, has not shown enough in his development to make the isles see him as anything special.

Eklund blog stating leafs may be weighing options on parting with bernier....

Seems like the right kind of gamble to me.

I used to like Bernier, but he is looking more and more like a 1b goalie. Flames need a starter, not another 1b goalie. Granted he would fit in well with Hiller and Ramo letting in soft goals.lol

Would be fine trading Hiller one for one for Bernier. Flames take the risk on the second year but give up nothing of value

I think the Leafs would still want something back of some value.

Raymond+Ortio for Bernier, then waive Hiller or Ramo and park in the AHL for the rest of the year. That's the only thing I would consider if I was BT. Bernier has looked no better than any of our goalies but has an extra year at 4m+. That should really hurt his value.

Just read the blog by EK. Once again he is off his rocker. No chance they waive Bernier. They still need a back-up.

As for your proposal, leafs would be better off keeping Bernier for the year and hope he gets out of his rut. They don't need cap space this year and they are not making the playoffs.

I don't believe Raymond + Ortio gets you anything. Ortio's positive value is outweighed by Raymond's negative value. IMO Maybe Ortio and Jooris?

Bernier is a goalie that might be worth taking a chance on. Far from a sure fire #1 but he has looked good in the past.

I agree, it likely wouldn't get it done. I just don't want to see a stupid trade. I view Bernier has a salary dump/reclamation project, we shouldn't be giving up anything of value to acquire him.

The Flames do need to upgrade on their goaltending, but Bernier is not the answer.

As odd as it seems... I've always wanted Cizikas off the Isles for our 4th line.
