Pulled in 33" of fighting fury yesterday!
Had it out of the water, measured, photographed, and back in the water in about 45 seconds.

Dunno. I'm not from Calgary so I don't know the area for fishing.
Cold Lake is worth a vacation for a couple days in the summer. Huuuuge lake and guided fishing almost giantess big Lakers, and local restaurants will take them from the guide and cook them up in various ways for you without you touching a thing.
Best fishing I ever did, was not just the fish so much but the experience: Mikasew Fishing http://www.mikisewsportfishing.com/

Those were my first ones. I tried for them a couple of times at Grist Lake but even though everyone around me was yanking them in I got skunked. Couldn't seem to miss at Namur. Was an awful lot of fun.
There is a Lodge/cabins on the lake. It's fly-in only in the summer, but in the winter you can sled in.

Fair ways from Calgary mind you.

My boyfriend caught a 20" rainbow under the glenmore bridge yesterday. He was using a wooly bugger. Here is a pic:
I have yet to nab a trout on the Bow but I have only gone a handful of times. I am jealous of this one that is for sure!!!
We are going to head down there again tomorrow night to see how we do.

Looks like a Brown Trout to me. No spots on the tail fin?
Guessing that is a female.
How to tell sex of a trout:
http://www.ginkandgasoline.com/fly-f...ex-of-a-trout/
Female trout all have a short rounded nose or upper jaw, while male trout have a more elongated snout.
Sexually mature male and female trout for both rainbows and browns have different looking anal fins. A male will have a slight convex anal fish “(“, while a female trout’s anal fin will be slightly concave “)”.

Fished yesterday. The morning was wayyyyy slow for a river that should not have been, not sure if it was the cooler temperatures or what. Not too far away was a spot that Troutman and Slava had mentioned in passing on a trip the three of us did a bit back, as a spot that they have always sort of thought about hitting up but had never made the stop. The river my friend I were fishing was slow so why not try the spot in question?! I threw on a SJW as a dropper on a Fat Albert and hooked up as soon as we arrived! It was fat, a cutbow I think? Around the bend my friend was hooking up some cutty's on a dry and the afternoon of fishy fun had commenced. I would like to thank Troutman and Slava for piquing the interest in that stretch, you 2 will know the one : )

Any fly-fishers interested in a float down the Bow this coming Saturday? A seat in the drift boat has opened up. Send me a PM if interested, please.

There won't be proper competition until you put me on the sticks for my share so hands down you or your 'plus one' won.

Ya, we learned that it was in fact a brown trout. Still getting used to identifying those trout!! Still a fantastic fish.

Hopefully someone out there can help me.
I have a Vintage 1983 Garcia 9200 (_not_ Abu or Mitchell) spinning reel. The side plate shattered when I took a spill on a slippery rock the other day. I was almost in tears - it was like losing my favorite dog.
Fortunately, I've been able to repair the side plate, but I'm in search of an exploded diagram or manual so I can reassemble everything properly. There are a couple of springs and clips that have a couple of possibilities visually and I'm not positive where they should go, since the dis-assembly happened when the side plate broke off. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The Bow is fishing ridiculous right now!! I would encourage you to get out this weekend if you can as the fish are fat, feisty and hungry. I had a good 5 minute fight with a tank of a rainbow that ended up breaking of my boatman’s that was tied on to a SJW with 2X tippet, another tank a few minutes earlier took my buddy way into his backing. Just finished floating Fish Creek to Policeman's, it was fish on less than 5 minutes in, awesome. Boatman’s, wholly buggers, price nymphs w/ small rubber legs (Price Nymph X I think), and were all productive, even when we jumped out of the boat to fish a riffle or run during a pit stop the fish were getting hooked up. Wicked evening for sure.
