"I just want to say because I won't have another chance to ask this -- 'Have you heard of a Life Model Decoy?'" asked Coulson. "I don't know if you've read the theories from the people on Twitter, but there's this guy called the Vision. I don't know if you saw the UK version of the DVD, but the blade wasn't coming out of his chest. There's a tesseract!

And then, suddenly, Joss Whedon showed up onscreen amongst applause.
"We all love Clark Gregg, there's no doubt about that," Whedon said. "From before we made 'The Avengers,' we discussed whether there was a way for him to be a part of the Marvel Universe, perhaps a part of a TV show even after his death. … The fact of the matter is, as much as we love him, now that I'm really running Marvel, I like to keep a type of artistic integrity, which means we don't stretch the bounds of reality."
"There was never going to be a 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' show without Agent Phil Coulson!" said Feige, who appeared behind Whedon, wearing a COULSON LIVES shirt.
"He's headlining the S.H.I.E.L.D. show and always was." said Whedon.
Loeb confirmed Clark Gregg is the first member cast in Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D."

Joss said he'd never do Network TV again so I wonder if he got the green light on his vision of the TV series. He said FOX ruined Firefly by not giving it it's time slot and ruined Dollhouse by changing his whole story-arch before they'd okay it. Great news if so!
I'll certainly watch the show, I've always thought that Whedon is one of the better story tellers out there, especially with long running shows.
I will say that Buffy did lose its way after season five when JW got caught up on the life is crap thing and made Buffy the jaded angry chick.
Angel was strong throughout with the final two seasons being incredibly strong and Whedon giving the network the ultimate middle finger in the season wrap up.
Firefly could have been an amazing show, but I think that most people don't want smart T.V. shows, they either want reality t.v. stupidity, or generic crime dramas that wrap up in 40 minutes.
I like Dollhouse at the smart mostly because Eliza Dushku is incredibly hot and putting her in lingerie makes it even better, but it just seems like the show was trying to be too clever and it lost its viewers.
But the shield could be very cool, wonder if he'll keep up his habit of working with buffyverse actors like he did in the Avengers (Wesley was the other, Gun had a cameo in the background in the end)

I read on IGN sometime ago that this was initially was going to be a web show i'm glad that a major network picked it up. Bigger budget hopefully it gets good enough fan support.

Really? Disney owns Marvel and ABC. Seems like it makes sense to me.

I think it was an OK start. They're definitely connecting all the movies through the series. I won't discuss details until more people have watched it.
It's also definitely a network show. While there were some cool effects, for the most part it was Smallville, Fringe, etc. level of effects. I really hope the super character in each show isn't just someone that looks normal but has a couple crazy powers. I know there are budgets but it's something we've seen time and again.
I also hope they get to play with some of the minor heroes and villains that we know from the comics.
