I think this link works at least. Lots of melting today, but another snow fall warning for 30-50 cms tonight/tomorrow.

I always wondered how people ended up in the ditch.. today driving on a road where it was wet but clean except for a 3-4 inch strip of snow right in the middle of each lane.

Easy right, just drive normally in the lane and your car will just go over top of it, wheels on each side.

Person in front of me almost lost it a few times by driving with wheels right on the strip of snow/slush after drifting off to one side or other of the lane. All you gotta do is stay in the lane!!

I guess now I know.

For every mile of road there is two miles of ditch as the saying goes....

The stretch of highway 1 between Calgary and Chestermere is Struggler's Row. Perfectly straight, 2 lane divided highway, no elevation changes and clear sightlines. Should be the easiest thing in the world to drive, but after every major snowfall you'll see at least one or two smooth brains off in the ditch

So, is it still drought like conditions out there in southern Alberta, even after all this?

I dunno...I had a client come in yesterday and he works for an outfit that makes Agricultural Seed and their main operation is in Brooks and he indicated that they were bone-dry...they got nothing.

And one dump of snow does not generate enough water for an entire spring.

I guess we have to wait and see, but I dont think the City's water restriction policies are all that Draconian, seemed reasonable enough to me.

I suppose I should turn my sprinkler off though. Its been going since February. If you keep the water moving it doesnt freeze!

I hope we have the most gorgeously wet, moist May with big rivers and lush green nearly as far as the I can see… and they still ban watering your lawn.

Yeah depends where you live, the isolated weather here is so weird. Yesterday downtown (and north side of the city, or at least NW) we got more of a dusting, the roads looked more like rain. Whereas I hear south parts of the city got a big dump of snow.

Thought I'd wake up to another dump this morning but nothing. Really hasn't been much this week so far in central/north Calgary. I see it's starting to snow now however.

I'll allow rain, but can the snow #### off?

This snow is pretty much like rain right now, melting on contact right away. Well at least here in the NE.

The snow that is hitting the other snow sitting on my front yard is not melting.

In the SW earlier this morning the rain was slowly melting the snow and things started to look very green. Flakes just turned big and fluffy again though

Y'all telling me you two don't have snow on the ground in your area of the city?

Correct, none on the ground at home in Sunnyside this morning and the lawns here at work are green in the NE.

When I was out this morning one block would be 80% melted then the next block would be 80% snow covered
