MLB has long been in on cheese for uniforms. Though the support for it died down after the widely ridiculed "Turn Ahead The Clock thing in 1999.

This is already the fourth or fifth time this season MLB has done some kind of special weekend jersey thing league wide.

Despite having James Paxton, an underperforming injured King Felix and spare parts for a starting rotation the Mariners are holding the second Wild Card spot.

There is a pretty clear cut top 4, and than a lot of mediocrity in the AL this year.

I think it's 44 of 51 now. They've been on a crazy tear recently. But since they brought Bellinger into their lineup they have been winning at an absurd rate.

Even an injury to Kershaw doesn't seem to be hindering them that much. I guess we'll see if they can't get it done when it counts again. But I think adding Darvish behind Kershaw is really going to bolster their post season odds. Adrian Gonzalez has been out for some time, and he's due back pretty soon. Will be interesting to see if that upsets the current dynamic they have.

Well Paxton has been a beast and the offense has been way better than expected. I don't see how they win a playoff round with the current rotation but I they have the weakest schedule of any of the teams in the wild card hunt so they have a good shot of getting in. Now of course because they're the Mariners, they'll either run into an even worse case of the injury bug than earlier this season or find some other way to blow it down the stretch.

Not to be a homer or anything, but Pillar makes such catches on the regular, and on top of that at full speed. Gamble eases up for a second then times it to dive. A good catch, but one that Pillar would've got to without the jump at the end.

Well, dammit, Bryce Harper just looks like he tore his ACL. What a rotten day.

Ya that didn't look good, but he escaped serious injury. He just has a significant bone bruise.

Umpires are starting to wear white wristbands to protest "escalating verbal attacks" against them. Their union even joined Twitter this month, largely just to whine about how unfair it is that people criticize Angel Hernandez. I kind of feel bad for whatever union intern has to read through the replies...

The umpires have the thinnest skin of all pro sport officials.

Currently watching Dodgers vs Tigers in the top of the 6th and only base runner so far has been Puig on a walk.

Verlander and Maeda are the pitchers

Jinxing Rich Hill here. Perfect game through 8 innings.

Got a favourable call on a 3-2 count. Should have been a ball, but was called a strike.

First time a no-no has been lost by a walk off homer in extra innings. What a wild game that was.
