Default Automated web test tools, any experience or suggestions?

Might get a project to setup some automated web testing, something I've not done before.

Selenium is the one that I see people mention all over, does anyone have any experience with that?

Or any other tools that people have used?

I've had some pretty good fun with Apache JMeter. Has a nice way of recording you browsing a website, and turning that into an automated test. Google Apache JMeter Proxy Recorder.

Good plugins at jmeter-plugins.org as well.
