Flames on lookout for top-4 D... believe they've looked into Hamonic, Methot, among others; also still trying to re-sign M. Stone...

Analytics crowd hates Hamonic don't they? Does Methot rate out as poorly and just riding shotgun to Karlson? One or both would definitely be good to round out the D

Yes please. He's 2nd on my wishlist for physical top 4 D behind Josh Manson.

If we trade our 16th pick, I guess we do not need to watch the draft

If Flames get Hamonic/Methot and also re-sign Stone that would be one hell of a blue line.

Assuming we don't move a D in the process we would have; Giordano, Hamilton, Brodie, Hamonic and Stone for Top 5. That is ridiculous! Rotate guys like Kylington, Andersson and Kulak in as 6-7.

Tough for flames to trade for Hamonic. Our asset base is pretty stretched.
1st rounder
Jankowski
Andersson
Kylington
Gillies
Parssons
Are really the only piece worth anything and would sting to see a package of them go.

Like I said in the trade rumours thread, adding Methot/Hamonic and Stone would give us one of the best defences in the league. Don't know exactly how feasible it is. But I do like the names being mentioned. Ideally we'd add two #4 defensemen who are more the physical, defensive defensemen types. That allows us to work in an Andersson or Kulak as the 6th dman and have a nice balance of puck moving, skating, physicality, strength, etc.

I find analytics tend to underrate defensive defensemen in general. Almost none of them have good possession numbers and yet NHL GM's love what they do. There's a bit of a disconnect between the stats and the value of strong, physical, defensive defensemen. So much of what they bring isn't really quantified in the stats very well.

It would be kinda cool if we get a top D from islanders and Oilers only got Strome

If you're going to spend, May as well go young for young. Like the Jones for Johansen trade.

Harmonic is quickly becoming the most overated D in the league.
I actually wonder how many people have ever watched him play!
Is he above average? Sure. Would he be great as a 4th D? Sure. Is he worth the kind of rumored assets NYI want? Heck no

Maybe I'm missing something but why is Hamonic so highly rated? Big guy good for 20 something points. I'd much rather just re-sign Stone who seems to give the same thing than give up assets for Hamonic. Is there some fancy stats out there I am missing?
