1 for 1
Edmonton Oilers @EdmontonOilers
The #Oilers have acquired forward Ryan Strome from the @NYIslanders in exchange for forward Jordan Eberle.

Yeah, only Nuge left standing from the 4 forwards who were the core at one point. Always thought he was the best of them.

Addition by subtraction. Wonder if there's any salary retention

No retained salary? Good trade for Oilers imo.

Seems about right for the salary/performance of Eberle. Oilers win this IMO.

I'm assuming the Oilers would have to retain salary to get more, and they know they need the room.

TSN 1040 reporting it is a one-for-one, Eberle for Strome.
This makes me very pleased.

It seems like more of a trade for cap space

I guess if you're getting rid of an awful contract and a player who is awful defensively with poor compete level you're not going to get a lot back. I think it's probably a win for the Oilers, although a d-man would have made it a steal.

Good trade for the Islanders unless Strome can pick it up.
Oilers lose former high pick from the Isles in Reinhart... now they get round 2 with strome

Seems decent for the oil? Does he fill a 3rd line C? I know little of Strome but I hold a very low opinion of Eberle as a player.

Vegas could have had Strome for free?
EDIT: NM, I guess it's not as simple as being left unprotected...

Straight up trade, Eberle for Strome. No salary retained either way.

Excellent.
Glad it wasn't Hamonic. Now they can overpay a FA... Like Russell!

Opens up $3.5M in cap space for the Oilers.
Makes me think a Draisaitl and Russell contract announcement maybe coming soon.
Gave up the better player for sure though.
Remember guys its not going to be Eberle for Strome. Its Eberle for Strome + Russell re-signed.
