If they keep their majority they can do as they please until 2020. They've gerrymandered themselves into safety. This is truly the darkest timeline.

If the Dems take back the house and the senate in 2018, rather than do anything to impeach him, I'd much prefer them put forward the most liberal bills that would do great things for the country. Make him veto it.

Then run someone in 2020 and have their campaign basically be, hey you want government to work again, get rid of the swamp monster and let us get back to work.

It's kind of fitting that the taxpayers pay to keep ol' Donnie watching what to be told to do.

What's interesting is that you would likely get a productive government. Trump would get to take credit for MAGA and for fixing the swamp and bringing back non-partisanship to government. Since he doesn't believe in any policy he is probably better for America than Pence in a democratic controlled congress.

You know what's great about golf? Coming home after 5 or 6 hours of no tv and hearing the latest "Trump is a fkn mentally unstable, idiot" updates.

I like how he appointed Eric's wedding planner for the office of HUD(housing and urban development) for New York and New Jersey. She says she has a law degree but the University from which she says she went too denies she does.

It really is a pick your poison kind of scenario right now for the states. Trump is a special kind of bad situation but Pence is much more seasoned politician who knows how to "play the game" so to speak. Trump is actually preventing the republicans from being able to get away with making a lot more of the changes they would like to make because he can't help but draw negative attention to everything they do and is also divisive amongst republicans in office. If Pence were to take over I could see things quickly getting much worse for Americans, only much more quietly.

That includes driving there/back etc. 6 hours away from tv, main activity golf. Also, I'm not a speed demon golfer like Dion.

Yeah, I think the best likely scenario for the Democrats would be to win the house but still be behind in the senate (which also sounds like a likely scenario). That allows them to draw up the articles of impeachment, spend a lot of time focusing on how awful Trump is and the GOP for backing him, grind any Trump/GOP legislation to a halt, and put the ownice on the republican-controlled senate to actually impeach. Then those senators have the worst dilemma; protect Trump and lose moderates, or impeach and lose their base. It's an unwinnable situation for them, and sets up the best possibility for the Dems to get the House/Senate/Presidency in 2020. That's the year that there's potential for the Democrats to gain solid, long-term control of the Senate. (22 Republican seats up vs. only 11 Democrats.) That would also create the huge uncertainty in 2019 and early 2020 of whether Trump is going to survive impeachment and run again, or whether Pence will become the incumbent and run, and whether other Republicans would contest either of them in a primary.

Trump's attorney (Kasowitz, not Cohen) has had a formal complaint filed against him because he advised other white house staffers that they did not need to get lawyers. Expect a rush of lawyering up. Truly a golden age for Washington attorneys.

Really interesting that the NRA has not come to the defense of Philando Castile for being shot simply for owning a gun. I thought they fought for the rights of gun owners against the government????

So I remember the rumour that Mexico was going to buy Twitter to ban Trump. Maybe it's the GOP that needs to buy it and ban Trump. And remember he's only going to become more unhinged as time goes on, so they might actually wanna seriously consider buying it as a means of saving themselves a lot of grief and maybe even a few lost seats.
