Maybe Frolik and Backlund work some magic on this kid during camp.

As a 5th round pick? In a weak draft? I'll take a power forward with potential any day at this point in the draft. Not in love with the pick, but I don't mind it either.

Love how he doesn't hesitate at all to defend a teammate.

He likes that uppercut and isn't afraid of taking a few either.

Watched Fischer and the Medicine Hat Tigers for the last 3 seasons. He is tough as nails, plays a heads up game, very composed, never panics, team player and leader. Will be interesting to see if he can translate that to the NHL.

Seems like they had to draft him because they didnt want a situation where he signs to another team as an undrafted fa.

Exactly. If you like the kid, take him.

Listening to his interview on the Fan 960 today ... It sounds like he has a good "dirtbag" element in his game, as well as not afraid to mix it up when needed. The kind of guy you like on your team, while he throws opposition team members completely off their game.
And he likes to model his game after Tkachuk.....will be interesting to watch his development from here.

For those wondering about Fischer's number...

He changed from #9 to #39 this past season when the Tigers (finally) lifted Tom Lysiak's #9 to the rafters.

If he keeps that jump in points up and still fights as much and stays healthy he's going to be a beast.

Classy.

Shoulda taken 99 like when Bourque changed his number (to honour Espo).
