#### that. You don't like the way something is, do something about it. Far too much apathy these days.

Of course "It is what it is". When is anything " It is what it isn't"?

When people reply to a thank you with "mmmhmmm" instead of a "you're welcome" or "no problem". It always comes across as "yeah, I know I did you favor

I had a guy who worked for me and he would say"pacific" instead of "specific". I hated it but never found the right moment to correct him.
I got fired and a few years later after he quit that job he turned into a client at our respective new jobs and he still used "pacific"

This isn't a saying that bothers me, but I have a question. When saying you are in the same situation or predicament as someone, Is it "we're in the same vote?" Or "we're in the same boat?"

If I eliminated all the sayings in this thread from my vocabulary I don't think I would be able to communicate.
At least no one gets annoyed by f bombs though. I'd be in SERIOUS trouble if I had to take those out.

It's moat and dates back to medieval times when people unsuccessfully stormed the castle.

Sentences that begin with the words "You should". Especially when dealing with the elderly or any sort of caregiving situation.
I have almost managed to eliminate it from my vocabulary. One slips out every now and then though. It's surprising how often you hear it if you listen for it. There are better ways to make a suggestion. Especially if you genuinely want someone to consider the suggestion.
My cousin asked me "Why don't you tell Grandma to start wearing her hearing aids? You're the only one in the family she listens to." I didn't need to give an answer.

No, it's coat and it dates back to ancient Egypt when ever 2 people saw each other wearing the same brand of outerwear.

When it's minus 30 and someone says "cold enough for ya?". I usually reply "No. Another 10 degrees, then it'll be cold enough for me"

Shed-ule is the British pronunciation and Sked-ule is American. I suspect because most of us were (are?) brought up with British spelling we tend to pronounce words that way too...I think it could be the French influence as well.
-----
I have a cool story bro about schedule. I worked on a project with a US based batch scheduling team. During conference calls 'schedule' was used frequently. They didn't tell me until months later but at first they would be IMing each other asking what the hell I was saying because I said "shed-ule". After they told me I ended up almost every time saying it twice because I'd pronounce it "the proper way" and then correct myself to say it "their way".

There's no way I could let that go. For the client I would politely respond with the word specific. I would say something like, "A specific example would be ..." However, for the coworker I would reference the ocean.

It's actually stoat and dates back to when we were all nocturnal shrew-like creatures and subject to frequent mustelidae predation.

Adding "af" to the end of everything. Saw a girl earlier today that had a shirt that said "Single AF". Classy. Wouldn't "Single" be sufficient? And if you're married, is "married af" any different than simply being "married"?
