Is the tasting room for private events, or is it open to the public with various samples available?

Cool, I live in the NE so I'll definitely check it out this weekend.

So if you see a guy in a Sabres hoodie there, drop a 'Happy New Year' and I'll know it's one of you.

Sorry Hack&Lube, the picture wouldn't copy for some reason if you want to add it in here. Hope I'm not imposing by starting this thread for you, but that's a pretty big plunge you took with a really neat idea, so figured it'd be best to get some eyes on it.
Dude, thank you so much. Awkwardly, I was working out permission for a sponsored type post with Bingo because I didn't want to overstep my bounds but thank you for doing this for me! That's very gracious of you but just to clarify, It's not "CPs official Beer Store" or endorsed by Bingo or Photon but I will make amends for that or at least, do my best to give great deals to CPers.

I'm proud to announce that my partners and myself have just opened The Beer Vault, Calgary's first beer-focused retail destination, a store that just does beer like Calgary hasn't seen before.

Our goal is to have the best cold selection of beer in Calgary with enormous diversity but also a focus on local breweries. We want to support Alberta-made beer with a huge selection of local product from our neighboring craft breweries.

With 30 cooler doors of cold, ready to drink beer goodness, the Beer Vault's selection will always be growing and we will also feature a growler bar with an 8 keg capacity that will be available in mid-May. The Beer Vault also features a tasting area which will begin hosting events next month.

For a limited time starting Friday, May 5th, CP members can mention the special code: "FATAING BEER" for 15% off in our first month of opening. It's been a tough many months getting this off the ground and some support from CP and your friends would go a long way! Please come visit us soon!

(sorry the 40 doors on this flyer ad I was working on is a typo I have to correct at our printer but we certainly have space to add 10 more doors in the coming year!)

Is anyone there handing out samples tonight? I may or may not be prone to impulse buying.

My only complaint about being there this weekend would be the lack of pricing on some of the shelves. I went and found an interesting Pecan Pie single and once I got to the till I found out it was as expensive as the 6pk of Grizzly Paw I bought.

I still bought it, but that was one expensive beer.

Hmm. I was recently gifted a growler (now empty) and I really had no idea what to do with it.

I guess visiting H&L and getting it filled with something great is probably the way to go!

I've never known how to pronounce fataing. Is it fata-ing or fat'ing?

Sorry! Some American stuff is still expensive because of some of the new tariffs and other import things. I always make a point to tell people they can change their minds if something rings up as pricey.

Working on pricing and adjustments, there's like 400-500 SKUs I need to adjust make labels for. Feedback always welcome.

If anybody wants to come visit me, I have a regular job in the daytime hours to pay the bills but I will be there most evenings and on weekends.

I've been here for several years now and I'm still not quite sure. Pretty sure it's a reference to Rico Fata though, as he was one of our highest draft picks and also a huge bust.

Essentially, when he was put on waivers, there was about a half dozen threads all started at the same time. Hence, a repeat thread started at the same time about some breaking news came to be known as a 'fata'.

Also, I'm pretty sure the swear filter was set at one point to change all swears to 'fata'. Which would be the reference for "Fataing Beer".

Good luck with this venture.

Hopefully it gets to the point that you can leave your day job behind.

I will stop in when I am in Calgary on work.
