That was literally the stupidest idea the president has had since this wall business started.
Who actually runs the Trump businesses. It really can be Trump or his family.
Cyber-security partnership with Russia was stupider.

If Trump were to be impeached, and removed from office, I have absolutely no doubt the US is headed to Civil War.
Not a chance, as has been discussed in this thread the demographics of the US is not one that could support a civil war.
All the people who would be the angriest and the ones who would most want to participate in violence have mortgages to pay, children to feed, and jobs to go to on Monday. You'd probably see protests and lone-wolf actions but nothing that could be sustained in any meaningful way.
Also, the military has a complete monopoly on heavy weapons in the US. No militia, no matter how large and well trained, could stand up to artillery. The only possible way there is a civil war in the States is if entire brigade-or-larger units of the US military start shooting at each other.

Yeah the fact that the US military can kill every American without firing a single bullet because of chemical and biological weapons means the notion of any sort of uprising is horribly misguided. Any coup type event will be the same as every other country, the military will initiate it. That's why the argument that lax gun laws are needed because "government tyranny" is beyond absurd. Stockpile all the AR-15s you want, the military has weaponry that is far, far more advanced.

You don't have much faith in our American friends, and you have far, far too much faith in anyone's devotion to Donald Trump.
Even his own children wouldn't pick up arms to defend his presidency. Only the craziest, most deluded citizens would put their life on the line for this uninspiring, ineffectual man. It's not like he stands for lofty ideals or is considered a great leader or even a good person.

That's something that always gets me. Whenever I bring it up elsewhere, folks are always "Oh, the military would NEVER attack it's own citizens! You are a fool to think as much! The military would never follow those orders, and would attack their Commanders instead!"
At that point, I just shake my head and move on from the conversation as it's not worth it.
Two of the insurance industry's most powerful organizations say a crucial provision in the Senate Republican health care bill allowing the sale of bare-bones policies is "unworkable in any form."
The criticism was lodged in an unusual joint statement by America's Health Care Plans and the BlueCross BlueShield Association.
It is a blow to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's efforts to line up enough Republican votes to push the health care legislation through the Senate next week.

Not a conventional war, but the US could tip over into something approximating a civil war without the guns. Tax revolts, shutting down the operations of the government, paralyzing courts with litigation. If Trump is impeached, the Democrats would need to find a squeeky clean candidate to run in the next election, because the Republicans would be laying the groundwork for an impeachment of their own before the new president even moved into the Whitehouse.

Mostly agreed, but there are some circumstances where it could happen.
For example, if the economy completely collapsed and the military stopped getting paid. Some may go rogue or even abandon armories or pledge allegiance to rebels.
It's very unlikely, but theoretically could happen. It's what happened in Yugoslavia, which was the 4th largest military in Europe at the time.

The 3%ers and Oathkeepers put a substantial wrinkle into your belief. There will be no large scale engagement, but I would not rule out regionalized events where the military is unlikely to engage, even if ordered to. I could see this turn into an insurgency of the nutbars against the rest. Extremism is alive and well in the United States.
John McCain is out for a bit with minor surgery, so McConnell said the vote on healthcare is deferred. He definitely doesn't have the votes if McCain isn't there.
