Default New MLS designation of communities & quadrants

Although change takes time to get use to, I personally love the new designations. A lot of people are often confused as to how Signal Hill and Bridlewood are SW or how Bridgeland is NE. Buyers will often tell me that they want to be in a certain quadrant which is fairly useless unless broken down by community.
The new designations make it much more distinct.

What are your thoughts?

The city was way to big to just be segregated into 4 quadrants. It will take some time to adjust but definitely an improvement.

Keep in mind this is for MLS purposes only (as far as I know)
The only real downside is the elimination of estate communities. They are grouped into the general community name.
Some Realtors I spoke to are concerned it will de value estate homes. I don't see it changing much as Realtors and sellers know if they are in a estate area or not and will price accordingly.
As soon as you have the mistake of an estate area home being priced according to the community in general it will cause problems but perhaps the blame should fall no further than the realtor &/or home owner for not knowing the property.

Nice, I'm now firmly in "City Centre". That's gotta be worth something, right? Right???

Anything outside the ring road should just be grouped as "near Calgary".

I would have liked to see city cente broken into a north and south choices. I'm considering doing a move up during the downturn, and the city centre neighborhoods north of the river are almost exactly what I'd be interested in.

I also think valley ridge and crestmont fit better in the NW than the west

We are missing SW. City Centre is too grainy defined and I have a hard time telling where one area starts and ends in that area. I know it's historical but areas like Mount Pleasant and Tuxedo park to me just clump together. The NW is the best defined quadrant as you can easily tell where Dalhousie starts and ends.
