Plus he's saying this because his coach is in trouble.

you mean the ref who never did another canucks or playoff game again and was out of the league 2 years later?

More importantly, when does it start? If it starts on the 19th, he's back just in time for the Canucks to play Boston on the 4th... if not...

I think 10k for Bob would have been enough. 6 games for Torts is okay in my book.

LOL, this is great. Personally I think it is way too much for a big bunch of nothing, but the fact that the Canucks got screwed, and that it makes the team, and ESPECIALLY their brain dead fan base so butthurt makes it even more worth while.
Any and all screwing of the Canucks and their violent, criminally insane fan base, in any context, gets me engorged.

C'mon guys. The "unwilling opponent" stuff is a smokescreen. The NHL is too gutless to state the real reason Hartley is fined: because he dared to start the fourth line. But it would be way too much of a slippery slope to admit that.

fair for both IMO
15 days deters the action, and Hartley fined (just as Buffalo was earlier this year) for sending out a goon squad and instigating the incident

It's definitely over 25K. Could be 150K if they are paid like the players who get paid per day of the season (195 days this year).
If they count coach salaries as 365 days, missing 15 days on a 2M salary is still over 80K.
2M was from a google result, probably pretty good ball park range considering he's a higher profile coach with a Stanley Cup in a big market.

I would also like to add, that I truly believe the league IS out to get the Canucks. And it is so wonderful.

So then Hartley should be fined a lot because that "goon squad" plays several shifts every game. It doesn't make sense to me. What rule did Hartley break exactly?

The league is not out to get the Canucks, if anything the NHL is guilty of turning a blind eye to the diving antics that took the team to a Cup final.

He would be be paid year round. 24 paychecks per year...unlike players.
So roughly 1/24th of 2million...between 80- 85k.

this isn't the first fine a coach has gotten for sending out a team like that
he sent out a Center with 2 faceoffs taken this year, everyone knew what he was doing

I said between 5 and 10 so a little on the low side but not too bad. There should be a fine as well and don't understand why the isn't.
Fining Hartley is pretty stupid though. I would love to see him do it again.

Most worthwhile 25k fine ever. I'm sure the players and Burke will gladly start up a fund to take care of it. The team is closer then ever now. Well calculated move by Hartley that night that results in his own team coming together, and the Canucks coach suspended and made to look like a fool. Well worth it.

He also frequently sends them out following a goal against to generate some "energy", and it doesn't spark fights.
Among the six games Torts will miss are two against Phoenix. They currently lead the Coyotes by 4 points, and the Yotes have 2 games in hand in the wild card race.

I feel like I really want to throw in that despite his anger, I think Tortarella is a great coach and a good person (with a temper).
I always think of the short segment from 24/7 when he was interacting with a 10 year old fan and I think if you haven't seen it before, you should definitely take a look:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb2aXLNnpNo
On the other hand, he's part of the Vancouver organization now and that means he's unbiasedly a horrible person... so torn...
