Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 5s Burke is deep into discussions to join the Flames in an executive position but it is not, as of this moment, done.

Based on combined efforts of @Real_ESPNLeBrun, @DarrenDreger and myself, here's what we know to be fact regarding Brian Burke to CGY rumors:

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 5s Beyond that, for us, it's all speculative. Could very well get done. Enough moving parts/complexities that there could be issues.

Wouldn't mind this at all. Burke is someone you hate when he's with another team but love when he's on your side.

6'2"! ph34r teh 1σ's

(One standard deviation from average for non nerds)

As for Burke:

Ok maybe not that enthused, but still I'd be good with it.

This is like a time machine taken back 5 months. When the first rumours happend about Burke i hit re-fresh for 2 days.

With the McKenzie tweet it seems to have even more legs. Could be hitting re-fresh many times over the next couple of days.

If he is in structure, unofficially I can't see Burke taking much suggestion from King when it comes to the hockey side...certainly not the same ear that Feaster gave King.

Like Toronto, Burke would likely directly in contact with the owners when it comes to money...hockey ops decisions are his and his alone, in conference with the hockey ops department, that is...of which King isn't in (officially).

As has been discussed here before, King moving on to be the public president/PR guy, and the person spearheading the new arena project, while Burke puts his mark on the hockey side, makes the most sense.

I don't see Burke "taking much suggestion" from Feaster either. I put in another post that Feaster would be gone by Olympic Break if this is true. Thinking about it, does Feaster even make it to the regular season?

I'd rather see this blow hard on TV talking about how the Flames are not taking anyone's crap anymore than anxiously waiting to hear how hard Feaster got bent over in his latest trade.

I'm nervous. If Burke can operate on a proper and thoughtful rebuild, I think he's got a decent track record. If this is ownerships' attempt to expedite the rebuild, his work in Toronto concerns me.

At the very least, Eric Francis will get the verbal belittling he is long overdue.

I'm good with this just because he hates the oilers, Canucks and ducks; half of our new divisional rivals
