Fact remains, the iconic hockey jerseys that have stood the test of time go for elegance and simplicity above all else. I can't understand why we would include a hard Black/White/Yellow/Black set of stripes. It cuts the red out of those parts of the jersey entirely - and no other jerseys seem to do the same (except of course our poorly received 3rd jerseys that featured the Calgary font).
If you're going for horizontal striping/piping/whatever, this is what should be targeted:

So basically, you don't like different colour stripes next to each other and want the main jersey colour to separate all colours? Maybe say things like that so that an actual opinion is rendered as opposed to a non-specific dig on the design which doesn't tell us anything at all.

I get what you're saying and I do agree. However, there's not much else you can do with four colours. That's why the retro colour scheme is far superior.

I took a fly by shot, then I explained why I did it - but thanks for the advice. So very sorry for offending you to such a great degree.
You sure do seem to be grumpy, so I'll just leave you be. Enjoy your day.

The use of the Black C complicates the jersey design (Black + Red are easy colours to do wrong), but I definitely still think they could be awesome - the use of black just needs to be a bit more subtle outside of it's use in the Flaming C.

I don't think what comixzone is talking about is piping. That is just the stripes and general design.
Piping are the thin coloured lines that often run along the seam of a jersey and are meant to help frame the jersey or some such BS. It always just looks stupid.
Here is a good example of the Blues jersey with ####ty piping:
And here's one without the stupid yellow piping:
A related awful design idea, related to piping and often used in conjunction is the idiotic odd shapes problem. This is visible on the first Blues jersey above, but has been fixed on the second version.
Here is how the Stamps decided to add piping and random geometric shapes to ruin their jerseys:
Not surprisingly the Flames are guilty of both.

KK just said in the season ticket holders lunch that I'm in right now that our jerseys will "startlingly similar" to what we've got now...

Not grumpy. I've just been a designer who can see the value in contributing thoughts as opposed to drive-bys made without any real substance on a discussion board.

Looks like I won't be buying a jersey.
I'm not a hard sell either.

I believe that KK referred to the changes when the Reebok Edge jerseys were about to be revealed as "minimal". I don't have a link, but it is what I remember hearing.

I would have lol. Looks like yet another let down when it comes to jerseys. It's so trivial too, but for whatever reason KK and co. just don't want to go down that direction.

I may have to become a lawyer so I can sue them for fashion incompetence. That's how it works, right?

Reebok kind of blurred the lines though, most Edge-era jerseys incorporate piping on the horizontal stripes. On the flames' home jerseys for example, the white and yellow sleeve stripes are by definition piping, and they are the same thicker material as the vertical piping. The black stripe is debatable, I wouldnt call it piping, but I can see why some people would.

What I got from KK is don't get excited the changes are not much different but enough you'll have to buy one if you want a current jersey.
I only buy jerseys I like and besides the 80-94 version I only own the 04-07, don't think ill be pulling out my wallet for this one if its pretty much the same as our current jersey.

Yay a poll! I like polls. Too bad that minor tweak will be one of the least popular choices but that is likely what we will be stuck with.
Also, what is the deal with posters calling jersey proposals they don't like "Wal-Mart"? Someone putting together a proposal for a new jersey is different from Wal Mart producing a cheap looking rip off of an existing jersey.
