Murray who? CBJ protected Ryan Murray. He isn't going anywhere it would seem

Aah, missed that. Rumored deal from yesterday would seem to make more sense. I thought I saw Savard, Jones, and Jack Johnson officially protected. Either way. Add about 5 contracts worth 2.5 to 5.9 million and getting to a 42 million floor is pretty easy.

Isn't the floor like $55 million?
After a quick google, it's $55.4M.

For the expansion draft, the total value of all the contracts Vegas takes on has to be at least 60% of last year's cap, which is $43.8 million.

How long must they stay on the LV roster to count towards that?

Pretty sure it's just at a point in time- the roster of expansion draft picks that VGK submits needs to meet the requirement. Then they are free to sell off assets and sign on free agents over the summer to meet the 2017-2018 cap floor.

I think it all adds up for Vegas to take Brouwer. The only other logical player would be Kulak. There are a lot of D that Vegas can grab that are better than Kulak.
If Methot is taken, Ryan won't be. If CBJ protects J. Johnson, that removes another high-salary player. There are very few high-salary players they can logically take. Brouwer is one of the few.

Well Vegas has signed Shipachev already. Rumoured that they will take Clarkson and Fleury.
That's be $16 million. Say they sign a guy like Radulov for $7. That'd be $23 millon for 4 guys.
So even if every other player on the team was only a million dollars, they would get to $43 million.
It's not going to be hard for Vegas to hit the target of $43.8 million.
They may take Brouwer, but they certainly don't NEED to take him.

From what I understand, they could trade for whomever they want...
However they MUST DRAFT A MINIMUM of 44M in the expansion draft. That is a game changer.

I would think they'd take Brouwer also for his implied leadership skills. They are going to have a lot of cast-offs and will need good guys for the locker room.

One question is what does Matt Stajan bring you at the trade deadline?
What have comparables brought recently? The value that guys like Stajan and Plekanec have at next trade deadline will tell whether they are grabbed over others.

As pointed out previously, 44 million spread out over 30 contracts isn't especially hard to hit. Two to three 4-5 million guys and it'd be nearly impossible not to hit 44 with the other 27 players.

Pinder's tongue must have been bleeding during that interview, you could tell he wanted to tell Spector he was an idiot so bad.

I've been in the mid-50s every time I've done the mock draft and I wasn't even specifically trying to meet the cap floor. In fact, I was tending towards young guys.
Like I said before, meeting the floor isn't why they take Brouwer, if they do. IMO, Flames fans are undervaluing him because they've only seen one season of him, which was arguably his worst full season in the league. McPhee, on the other hand has seen a bunch of really good years. Plus, in his worst season, he scored more than Stajan, the other vet, and Shinkaruk is still a huge question mark.

Speaking of the morning show, is Warrener gone? He hasn't been there for a few weeks now.

True, but we've seen this week (Smith acquisition) that familiarity can be a heck of a lure. I don't think McPhee takes Brouwer (Chiasson is my bet) but I wouldn't be completely shocked if he did.

He doesn't "work" during the summer he'll be back in the fall.

Is there a link to the Spector segment? Or does anyone know what day/time he was on the Morning Show?
