CP 2024 Ordered Draft List (April 9th Edition) #9
Each pick you choose who you would take if you were the Flames GM. Not a mock draft of the standings. Who the Flames would pick at #2 (skipping #1) through say #12 or greater if we see the value.
When done we will have CP consensus list for the Flames.
I'll run a few a day with a cut off around total votes so this doesn't take two weeks to complete.
We can run it weekly to see how things change.
RESULTS:
1. Celebrini (not voted)
2. Demidov
3. Dickinson
4. Levshunov
5. Lindstrom
6. Iginla
7. Catton
8. Parekh

If we plan on doing this to say, 15 or 20, I wonder if Parascak should be added to the poll.

This is an interesting process. Will you do it again closer to the draft? It would be interesting to see how it changes.

Interesting Parekh vs Buium.

Yeah I'm thinking every two weeks as we get closer to the draft. Maybe one in early May next, then late May and early June.
Lists will continue to change.
Will be interesting to see if the CP list changes too.

Parekh and Buium are a toss up for me. I like both players a lot.

Have to go with Buium here, but the American (SoCal) playing in the NCAA scares me.

Parekh over Buium solely to eliminate an "U.S" factor really.

I'm warming up to Helenius. Even if he looks more like a solid 2nd line center there's a lot of value in that and I'm starting to get a little worried that Honzek may be falling off track. I'm all about center depth after that last two decades of being a winger and defense heavy organization.

Parekh and Buium are likely to go even earlier than this CP poll. These are likely the most talented d-men in the draft, but their average size doesn't make them as high profile. Am a little surprised CP isn't discounting Buium more as he screams a kind of guy to jump ship from a Canadian team the first chance he gets. But he is BPA.

Can't remember the name, but I'm pretty sure there's a CPer who has a connection somehow to Buium and gave the impression that his flight risk is minimal.

A guy flying under the radar a bit is Liam Greentree. Is highly ranked almost everywhere. If the Flames miss out on Iginla, this guy has a similar game. A wicked shot, big frame, goes to the hard areas. Likely not as high a ceiling as Iginla, but intriguing nonetheless. Already plays a pro game, so his floor is likely similar to Helenius.
I'm more a "swing for the fences" type when it comes to first round picks, though. So would likely take Yakemchuk over him.

Yakemchuk has 30 goals as a defencemen. Right now i think i have him ahead of both buium and sylaev but not by much. Think they are all good

I believe in the Jays.
|
I went with Helenius (last time as well)... I might have gone with Yakemchuk over the last two D-men voted on (assuming Buium is taken here)... I mean he's the kind of guy folk around here typically like (Big/Big Hits/Big Shot) and he's a hometown boy to boot. I mean he's everything folk used to love about Dion Phaneaf.

Yeah I don't know why Yakemchuk isn't getting more votes. Personally, I believe he's going in the top 10. Playing a steadier, more structured game can be taught as he matures in the minors. Size, toughness and natural goal scoring ability can't be.
Edit: To be clear, I'm not criticizing anyone's choices. I'm just saying I thought he would have more votes at 9th overall.

Eiserman was an easy pick here. Guy is going to be among the league leaders in goals every year when he develops.
