Not really, I've even released him before
There's a few players in my organization that I understand I highly over-rate. Btian's salary was structured just for this reason, knowing full well I would be able to move him up and down freely through waivers... If a team felt the need to stick it to me and claim him and lock that much cap up, odds are they would be helping more then hurting me
I lost McGrattan once already to FA, all I had to do was be patient. I've let Mcgrattan, Regehr and Komisarek go when financially is no longer feasible but full knowing that they will always find their way back to Carolina

Can we waive guys to send down if our AHL squad has more than 25 guys over the summer? The link won't allow it, but seems like it would be fine during off-season.

If you have a kid under 23 with a low OV, temporarily call him up... waive the player you would like to waive... then send the rookie back down
Thats been my way around it - assuming you are trying to send down a player that needs to go through waivers and not another under 23 year old
