Given the arena sponsorship in Edmonton, I don't see there being a change there, but it is interesting to see a decoupling of the Flames and Oilers announcements. With the current states of each team, the Oilers may have felt they could get a better deal negotiating on their own.

I'm curious what the money looks like on a deal like this, but I don't think those are usually disclosed for the local/regional deals.
Maybe TSN is hot on the Oilers to get a piece of McDavid?

I'm not upset with this, but I also don't feel that the production quality is that terrible (sure, US broadcasts seem better in terms of production) and I also don't get that upset about their love for the Oilers and need to inject 97 into any conversation they can. It's annoying, but meh, whatever. As long as I get to watch the Flames, I'm happy. I also like the people the Flames have covering them from Leslie to Ball and yes, even Hrudey and Francis. And hopefully, the FAN960 is included here? Also like Flames Talk, Steinberg, Vickers, Wes, etc.

Overall, I have easy access to and lots of coverage of the Flames.

Hopefully at some point during that deal SN discovers how to broadcast games that are not mid 1980s quality.

With McDavid's contract expiring in two years and Draisaitl in one, I can't imagine any broadcaster is going to give them a bumper deal on a long term right now even if they are a club sponsor. There's a pretty reasonable chance they will look completely different from a marketing perspective in 12-24 months

Based on the press release, it looks like it's the regional tv deal only. Of course, with the state of the radio business, I don't see there being a lot of competition for the radio rights anyway.

I was half-surprised that this wasn't part of the announcement. 3 arenas in Western Canada plus a stadium in Toronto might just be a little too much even for Rogers.

My guesses for the new arena sponsors are: Scotiabank, Telus, WestJet, or SportChek.

I can see it now, welcome to the REC. Rogers Event Center. Yuck.

Rogers Sportsnet present the Calgary Flames live from the Rogers Event Center, with your host Roger Million.

Pretty certain it's some type of subliminal messaging about Rogers cell phone contracts.

Rick Ball does a fantastic job so can't complain about things from the PBP perspective. The overall production of SN is something else though...

It won't feel right if it isn't Rogers. I also want them to install the WiFi, so everyone can experience the terrible service.

Him and Millen are fantastic and the best combo in hockey imo. Let's hope that is the duo going forward.

Regional TV and local radio are two separate deals.

On the positive side, Huberdeau is no longer the worst Flames long-term contract.

Hopefully the tv quality improves when the new rink comes online. I suspect they have don't diddly squat to upgrade the domes wiring for modern cable.
