Default MLB: The Show 11

Well today marks the first release of info on what has annually, IMO, been the sports game of the year.

Nothing earth shattering here, but you just know that the little things that are addressed every year are going to be amazing.

So far my two favourite things are the smallest I would bet, the stadium specific jumbo tron stuff and dropping Rex Hudler for Eric Karros, likely meaning a LOT of new commentary.

Robinson had the exclusive right today to publish what he saw at the unveiling, everyone else is allowed to start reviews etc. tomorrow.

As usual, looking forward to this!

Great now to get used to the new analog controls, i can honestly say starting out with MLB 10 was the most frustrating gaming experience EVER. My controller almost went through the TV on a daily basis. In the end tho it was all worth it as hitting a homer just feels so damn good once you get the timing down. I like that they took out the dynamic challenges from RTTS as lots of times i would be going 3-5 with my 2 outs being the stupid challenges. CO-OP does sound amazing tho as this is a feature i have always wanted in a baseball game!

Good god, finally some new commentary. Love this series for the most part, but a lot of small things about it bother me. Glad to see one of them being fixed.

This has got to be one, if not the most realistic sports series ever to be out on any counsel. Simply put - the purest baseball game ever to be produced. Can't wait!

Anyone know the release date so I can pre-book my time off of work?

I still haven't put down last year's game, as I continue to update rosters manually and keep on playing. I have yet to do that with any game.

I had planned on last years being the last version - i have kept rosters updated manually, created rookies - BUT i have to get this just to get the roll call in Yankee Stadium.

I wish they would add a Road To the Show import feature. I'm not a huge baseball fan but I love that mode but it sucks how you have to start all over if you decide to get the latest version. With the NHL series it's not much of a problem for me because I maybe go though a season or two but with The Show being a pitcher I go through multiple seasons.

Well 2011 may not be for you. I think what they have done, based on the demo is awsome. There were many minor tweaks and things cleaned up.

I am not a fan of the analog controls, though with the Flames playing last night, I didn't give them much of a chance, will try them again.

I went back to the same controls as last year and WOW!

- Player models are much more life-like
- Batter's swings are sooo fluid
- The pitching meter has been smoothed out
- Pitches seem to have later break, and especially the changeup, has more action to it.
- AT & T looks awesome, I didn't hit a jack into the Bay yet, but everything else looks awesome.
- The field seems bigger so no more line drives down the line that the OF cuts off just as your getting to first, more gappers and I even saw balls (plural) over OF'ers heads. That was a rare occurance in the past, especially on default settings.
- The commentary even got some work, adding Karros and they made a small attemot to make it flow better....though many see this as the biggest weakness in the game, I actually like it, but obviously would welcome an upgrade.

I only got through two 4 inning games last night, so I am sure there is a ton more.

Can't wait for March 8!

Are there any bonuses with preorder purchase this year? I'll have to check with Gamestop, I recall last year we got 5 classic stadiums or something.

EDIT - so far it appears a free preview to MLB TV is what you can get.

You will be in the severe minority if you like 2K better. The Show sells PS3's.
