Default Wasps in the house

Looking for some CP advice.

Wasps have started to collect inside our house, up to a dozen or so before I suck them up with the vacuum. They all hang out by the front window. Can't figure out how they're getting in. No gaps in doors, windows, fireplace etc. Vacuum them up, and more come later.

There is likely a nest outside that I can't find. I did put out one of those liquid traps outside. There must 100+ in there in a matter of days. Tried it inside, but they refused to go inside the trap.

Next step is to put up one a fake nest, hoping the territorial instinct will cause them to FO.

Any experience with this, and/or remedies? I'm considering hiring an expert.

If there is already a nest, I was told a fake one won't help. It's more to prevent them from starting one....

So burn the house down.

There has to be an entry point somewhere. Unless you're leaving your door open or have big holes in your screens. Yellow jackets look for sugar this time of year. Their nests are already established so there's no benefit besides sugar to get in the house.

You absolutely have a breach somewhere. I kept finding wasps in my basement, finally discovered they were coming through one of the potlights in the ceiling. Found they were making it through a gap between the concrete foundation and the framing. Filled it with expanding foam and that was it.

I wouldn't recommend this as most spray foams are fire resistant, which is counter-productive to solving your wasp problem.

Funny I'm literally having the same problem. I could have sworn I posted this myself. I've been having problems for a couple days. It's because they have a nest in the outside wall of the house that we sealed off and they are now all trying to get to it anyway they can. I have no idea how they are getting inside tho.

My remedy has been a home made wasp trap out of a 2L pop bottle, my "wasp whip" (black tea towel), and extreme vigilance.

Maybe put out some brie and white wine for them?

Those types of traps are awesome, we make them all the time when camping and they work great.

There's a huge nest under my deck I've been avoiding. Bought a can of Wasp killer, opened the door to under the deck and sprayed a bunch right up into the nest, then turned and ran away screaming like a little girl. I'll have to check today to see how I did.

Went to my in-laws last night, and apparently my Father-in-law has been battling wasps for the last couple weeks. They've set up shop under his hot-tub (between the panelling and the shell) and are feasting on dropped apples from his crab apple tree.

The man is a fearless machine. I watched him (from the safety of a screen door) battle no less than 10 wasps trying to attack his weiners while he handled the grill.

He's got bottle traps up everywhere, and even made some kind of cardboard box death-exit contraption that he encased their entryway with, that had a bug-zapping racket taped to the top. Managed to kill a few dozen before they found a new exit in a less accessible spot.

Exterminators gotta be making bank this summer.

Yeah, in my experience from a few weeks ago, it doesn't even help if you relocate a nest and put one of those up, they'll ignore the fake nest it to rebuild where the old one was. I think it only really deters at the 'scouting for a new location' phase of a nest.

We bought one of these last year, and followed the instructions to the letter. Worked so well that eventually the wasps stopped drowning, as there were too many bodies that new wasps could stand on. This year, no sign of wasps anywhere. I think we made enough of a dent in the colony that it couldn't survive the winter.
