Been listening to the new (well, new to me anyway) Nothing record over and over tonight. Very nice record to listen to while vegging out on the couch after a long week and after everybody has gone to bed.
Some of you may know Nothing from their excellent Nirvana cover a couple years ago. Video below, NSFW'ed because of some brief nudity.
NSFW!

Ran across this clip from several years back. Ted Leo and the Pharmacists do an exceptional cover of Everybody Want To Rule The World.
It reminded me that I really like Ted Leo, and have several of his albums. I went back and found these songs that I always enjoyed. I especially like the 2nd one because it uses rounds in the vocals. When's the last time you heard a song with rounds?

I can't get over how much I like this album from Angel Olsen. I suspect that some of you will have an issue with her vocals, but I love them. Plus, the 80's synth reminds me of Stranger Things.

And in anticipation of my first Blues Traveler show a week from tomorrow night....

Every so often a perfect pop song is created. I know it's older now, but it's still so perfectly crafted. Headphones for maximum listenability, especially when the chorus kicks in.

Working from home today because I have a head cold. Kids and wife and dog are out of the house enjoying the sun. Alone at home blaring the Titus Andronicus double album in my office! Man, I love this band.

In addition to curating the lineup, Tollett had booked the hundred and fifty acts himself, negotiating all the offers with agents—a six-month process. He also fielded a lot of pitches that he had to turn down. Geiger, of W.M.E., described their working method: “I’ll say, ‘Kate Bush!’ And he’ll go, ‘No!,’ and we’ll talk through it. I’ll say, ‘She’s never played here, and she just did thirty shows in the U.K. for the first time since the late seventies. You gotta do it! Have to!’ ‘No! No one is going to understand it.’ ”
Not sure I buy it but I guess it's possible.
Keep waiting for a DVD from her 2014 shows, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. And they were strict about cellphones so there's not even shaky youtube videos.
I pre-ordered the new Slowdive album tonight. Pretty good deal on the vinyl ($17!) on Amazon. Never really got into Slowdive the first time around but I really loved Mojave 3, especially their first two albums. Been listening to the Out of Tune album tonight. So great.
