Those sources said Trump didn’t believe Flynn should be under investigation in the first place.

“Trump feels really, really, really, bad about firing him, and he genuinely thinks if the investigation is over Flynn can come back,” said one White House official.

One former FBI official and a second government official said Trump thought he owed Flynn for how things ended up and was determined to clear Flynn’s name and bring him back to the White House.

In other words Flynn has dirt on Trump, does Trump really believe Flynn will keep quiet with these phoney kind words?

Classic stuff from the Onion:

http://www.theonion.com/article/hund...er-ailes-56052

Quote:
PALM BEACH, FL—Clawing over each other and gasping for air as they emerged, hundreds of miniature Sean Hannitys reportedly burst from Roger Ailes’ corpse Thursday shortly after the former Fox News CEO’s death.

“At first, one little hand broke through his skin, and then dozens and dozens of Sean Hannitys just erupted out of Roger’s chest cavity,” said one witness, adding that the cacophony caused by the two-inch-tall, mucus-covered Hannitys screeching right-wing talking points drowned out every other sound in the room.

“They were suddenly everywhere, shrieking about the war on Christmas, paid protesters, and coddled, crybaby liberals on college campuses. One of the nasty little things even scampered up the wall and started gnawing on the doorframe. And, my Lord, they just smelled so foul.”

At press time, the miniature Sean Hannitys were ravenously devouring Ailes’ corpse.

I don't know if Flynn has dirt on Trump, but I do know that Trump believes Flynn will be 100% loyal to him and that even if Flynn is a traitor to America, he'll be a lapdog for Trump and that's what Trump values the most.

This doesn't seem right to me, aren't the different investigations after different things? The Justice Dept looks at it from a criminal point of view, but the other investigations look at events from other points of view, if things need to happen with regards to policy, or politically... They're what the public can see, Mueller's investigation will be completely private (assuming no leaks). The FBI investigation isn't going to create standards of cyber security, or change campaign laws.

Robert Mueller, the newly appointed special counsel in the Russia probe, will likely ask the multiple congressional investigations to curtail their public hearings in order to proceed with his own investigation, according to a Thursday New York Times report.

Five different Senate and House committees also have ongoing investigations into whether Russia interfered in the presidential election and possibly colluded with Trump campaign aides.

It's awfully quiet in Trump land. Must mean the great orange goblin is somewhere over the mid-Atlantic without access to twitter...

He is getting very well done steaks with ketchup served to him while on this tour, so he won't have to eat nasty ethnic food.

Lol, of course. What could possibly go wrong?

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/19/politi...ing/index.html

Quote:
The author of President Donald Trump's controversial travel ban, which targeted people from six-majority Muslim countries, is the principal speechwriter for the President's speech on Islam in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Stephen Miller, Trump's senior adviser for policy and speechwriter, is the principal aide in charge of writing both the speech on Islam and Trump's later speech on the future of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, a White House official told CNN.

Both are topics Miller has spoken out against throughout his career on Capitol Hill and in the White House.

The official said the speech has been put together through a collaborative process inside the White House, but that Miller was the primary author.

The speech, which will be given in front of about 50 Muslims leaders, could be a flashpoint in Trump's eight-day, five country trip. Trump has long derided Islam, proposed banning all Muslim immigration into the United States during the campaign and is expected to use the term "radical Islamic terrorism" throughout the speech in Saudi Arabia, the cradle of the 1.6 billion-member religion.
Quote:
Miller himself has a lengthy history with anti-Muslim rhetoric. During his time at Duke University, Miller wrote extensively for the school's newspaper, including one article in which he wrote: "Islamic terrorists ... have declared a death sentence on every man, woman and child living in this country."

Miller also worked as a college student for the Terrorism Awareness Project, an effort founded by the David Horowitz Freedom Center. The group is considered an anti-Muslim hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Prior to working with Trump, Miller worked as a top aide and speechwriter to Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, who is now Trump's attorney general. Sessions was outspoken on terrorism during Miller's time on his staff, mimicking Miller's views on the faith.

GOP, again, is more concerned about who leaked rather than what leaked. This is following leaked audio to Washington Post where high level GOP leadership were recorded discussing Trump having taken money from Russia. Paul Ryan cuts off discussion by saying “No leaks, alright?” Ryan said. “This is how we know we’re a real family here. ... What’s said in the family stays in the family.” They've apparently hunted down who the culprit of the most recent leaks must be.

These guys are sweating bullets and trying to come up with something to save their own necks. Hopefully they all sequel on each other when more gets released.

Quote:
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) says the possibility that more secret recordings could be leaked is a “cause for concern” after a leak emerged from a 2016 House GOP leadership meeting.

Ryan on Friday refused to speculate who might be the culprit, but he agreed that former independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin, a former leadership staffer who attended that meeting, was the name on everyone’s lips in Washington.

As a staffer for Republican Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), McMullin had been present for many leadership meetings in Ryan’s office. Last August, the former CIA officer shocked Capitol Hill by announcing an independent bid for the White House.

“I’m not going to speculate,” Ryan told conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt, “but that’s the name most people — you hear about.”
http://thehill.com/homenews/house/33...se-for-concern

One of the voices in the tape, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-California), was also warned by the FBI that he was actively being recruited by Russian Intelligence. Not sure if he got flipped by Russia between 2012 when he was given the warning and prior to the election.

Quote:
WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. warned a Republican congressman in 2012 that Russian spies were trying to recruit him, officials said, an example of how aggressively Russian agents have tried to influence Washington politics.

The congressman, Dana Rohrabacher of California, has been known for years as one of Moscow’s biggest defenders in Washington and as a vocal opponent of American economic sanctions against Russia. He claims to have lost a drunken arm-wrestling match with the current Russian president, Vladimir V. Putin, in the 1990s. He is one of President Trump’s staunchest allies on Capitol Hill.

As a newly appointed special counsel investigates connections between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives, the warning to Mr. Rohrabacher shows that the F.B.I. has for years viewed Russian spies, sometimes posing as diplomats, as having a hand in Washington.

Mr. Rohrabacher was drawn into the maelstrom this week when The Washington Post reported on an audio recording of Representative Kevin McCarthy of California, the House majority leader, saying last year, “There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump.” Mr. McCarthy said on Wednesday that he had made a joke that landed poorly.

But the F.B.I. has taken seriously the possibility that Russian spies would target American politicians. In a secure room at the Capitol, an F.B.I. agent told Mr. Rohrabacher in 2012 that Russian spies were trying to recruit him as an “agent of influence” — someone the Russian government might be able to use to steer Washington policy-making, former officials said.

The senior White House adviser under scrutiny by investigators is someone close to the president, according to these people, who would not further identify the official.

The revelation comes as the investigation also appears to be entering a more overtly active phase, with investigators shifting from work that has remained largely hidden from the public to conducting interviews and using a grand jury to issue subpoenas. The intensity of the probe is expected to accelerate in the coming weeks, the people said.
