Damnit! I was 100% against this.
Now after reading the last few pages I've done a complete 180. I'm totally on board.
Bring him home.

Ok, Flames. Here's the deal... Bring Iggy back home where he belongs, and I'll 100% forgive you for the shoulder flags.

Boston does have some great youth hockey programs, but the familiarity of Calgary from many years here may be too enticing to his wife and kids to resist. If you're in the right part of town and can afford the real estate there, it's still a great place to raise a young family.

The Iginlas are not exactly a "young family" anymore.

I figured he would prefer to be out east by his home if his family has already settled into schools etc there. But who knows. Seems like he is still here in Kelowna during summers.

Not sure what you'd classify them as then. Iginla has three children fairly close in years who are floating around in the elementary school grad/early jr high age bracket. It's a decent time to uproot without the move being too disruptive or a shock to everyday routines.

Haha what!? One of the weirdest things about professional athletes is how "old" they are viewed. When I'm Iggys age my (currently non-existent) oldest will be less than 10 years old. ( I don't know his kids ages but I'm assuming based on age they they are 11 and under)
And I would consider that a young family.

I doubt his family moved to Calgary if he does sign. Didn't he just buy a huge house in Boston and want his kids to go to school there?

I think Dad can go off to Calgary from mid September to mid June for one final season while has family stays in Boston. He can take Lance's room.

As far as I know, his wife's father still lives here. Could be easy for the family to come visit if Iggy is living out of an apartment. Just saying. Though I am sure he can afford an apartment large enough to accommodate his family.

From the looks of this thread, the only factor holding up the finalizing of a deal is finding a pull out couch for Iginla to crash on this winter.

I agree Iggy makes the most sense of the 40 year olds to bring back. Iggy on a line with Tkachuk and Bennett would be fun to watch.
He chased a cup elsewhere and it didn't happen. The team he set franchise records on has rebuilt and positioned themselves as contenders next year and have stated they would like to add another right shot to the forward ranks.
If there are hard feelings in either side stemming from his departure 4 years ago that needs to be buried and everyone move on and forward.
Bring him home Brad.
Iggy we want you back

It's been awesome watching this thread and seeing the momentum building. I was pretty against the idea at July 1, but I've really come around. Would be such a fun story.

It's weird, 4 years ago I remember how odd I found it to be picturing Iggy in another team's jersey, and how strange it was to finally see him in one. Now it has come back full circle and I see a picture like that (from the future), and it's funny seeing him in Flames silks again.
I do think that the benefits of adding him to the roster are up for debate, no question. He's a 40 year old winger and it's a matter of how much is left in the tank. However, regardless of the hard facts, the cool/excitement factor of bringing him back in the fold would be off the charts. I can't think of a better way for Iggy to close out his career.
