27. John Vogl of The Buffalo News quoted Tim Murray as saying he doesn't think "there's any appetite right now to change" the draft lottery. "I believe if there is an appetite to change it, if they're going to make a drastic change, it has to be something like three to five years out so it doesn't affect somebody that's in that position now." I looked into this, and it sounds like it's still something the NHL wants to do. And, although it's not always easy to get full agreement between them, the NHLPA agrees with the anti-tanking idea. I guess we'll have to wait and see where it goes.

Well if they're gonna do something they better do it quick with the way the 2015 draft looks. So many potential superstars.

Lets just hope one of Buffalo, Florida or Calgary win the lottery and all is good.

Edmonton's lottery balls shouldn't even be added to the mix. Four 1st overalls in 5 years would officially make them the most pathetic franchise out of the four major sports.

It looks bad on the NHL to have one team that's so brutal and being run by complete Klowns. It is hilarious though...

There has to be auditing going on considering the size of the business. Or would the teams be that dumb just to "hope" things are done right? Find it hard to believe.

So being bored I decided to use that simulator on the Oilers site 100 times to see the winners
  1. Buffalo (32)
  2. Florida (22)
  3. Edmonton (13)
  4. Calgary (12)
  5. NYI (4)
  6. Vancouver (5)
  7. Carolina (5)
  8. Toronto (2)
  9. Winnipeg (2)
  10. Anaheim(from OTT) (3)
  11. Nashville (0)
  12. Phoenix (0)
  13. Washington (0)

Small sample obviously, but some interesting results nevertheless. Might throw up if Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto, or Anaheim wins the lottery though.

NHL Draft Lottery Simulator is back by popular demand for 2014
Its just sad, that statement is all kinds of wrong. Only Edmonton could embrace it.

If you use it a billion times it will end up showing you the standings, that's how probabilities work. Like flipping a coin a thousand times will end up giving you around 500 heads and 500 tails.

While I don't believe it's quite serious enough to redraw upon pulling an Edmonton ball (maybe next year though) I strongly feel that Bettman and Daly are praying that they pull Calgary's name out. Last year it was tanking Avalanche over a short season, 3 years before that was Edmonsuck.

Been a while since we've had a lottery win who deserves it.

If we can't win it, I hope Buffalo does, just to keep things as is.

I wonder if the Oilers would be willing to swap #3 for #4 if that is how things end up tonight. Obviously this would entail Ekblad to be gone @ 1 or 2. Swap the #4 and Colorado's 2nd for #3?

Craig MacTavish ‏@FakeOilersGM
Help!! I only have a few hours left to find Tambellini! 14.2% is not sufficient.

I am going to watch but I won't be stressing. I could see the Flames taking Reinhart, Ekblad, and Bennett with first overall, so if they don't win the lottery it will likely come down to one of those or Dal Colle.

I would be happy with any of those four guys and if it does turn out to be Draisaitl or Ritchie, that would be alright too as those guys boast pretty impressive size and skill to inject into the prospect cupboard.

My personal ranking is:
Reinhart
Ekblad
Bennett
Dal Colle
Draisaitl

This is going to be an interesting off-season and the development camp will be very exciting to watch with one of these guys entering the fold.

If a team below the Flames does end up winning the lottery I hope it is the Islanders. They played their hearts out at the end of the season and finished even more strongly than the Flames did.

Worst case scenario without a doubt is Van winning.

Next worst is anyone after us

Then Edmonton

Buffalo or Florida is great

And obviously us winning is perfect

I have a friend who works in the Oilers' office. They don't like this fake McTavish and there are some who believe that it's an insider. I doubt that it is. These things are usually done by clever outsiders.

I usually find parody Twitter accounts really lame, but this fake MacT one has some real good ones.
