Right now the driver training company gives the test so their is incentive to pass everyone regardless of performance. Riiight.

You fail on two accounts. One, it is already government controlled as the driver examiners have to be licensed. Passing people that should not pass could result in them losing said license, and they would be well aware of it.

Secondly, the incentive would be to FAIL the person, not pass them. By failing the person they would have to retake the test, which benefits the company.

BTW, there was a recent thread on people failing drivers tests.

If you have a reputation of being an easy tester you will get more business. Talk to teenagers and other new drivers where to take the test and there will be a consenious on who is easy.

It isnt government run it is government regulated. This is a big difference as the profit motive is still present.

Right now there is motovation for a driver trainer to have a reputation for easy testing.

Just wondering where you get that information from? I don't think I have ever heard of some places being easier to pass. I have heard of some who used to cheat (take extra money for a pass), but never some company wanting to have a reputation of being easy testers. They make way more failing the person and having that person come back for a second test.

I think a lot of us grew up watching our parents / friends / older siblings drive and learned a lot prior to reaching learner's license age just through osmosis. I can see how a lot of the nuances are missed if you are an adult; new here; possibly coming from some place where driving isn't common or the rules are vastly different. Suddenly you're able to get a learner's license and start driving by taking lessons where you're basically instructed on how to pass the road test but without a lot of context.

And some of us also had weird parents that made us memorize the owner's manual of the car before allowing us to apply for the road test.

Coming back to Calgary from Kelowna, enjoying the most perfect double rainbows just after the Banff gate - then at least four vehicles crash into each other right in front of me by the Kananaskis turn-off. Such a sobering reminder to pay attention to the road.

Even back in my day (1980) everybody in my end of town knew to take their driving test through "North Hill" as opposed to AMA. They were known to be easier for testing.

In my time it was Rainbow Driving School. They choose a very easy route which you got to drive once and then take the test on the same route pointing out everything they were looking for. You have to be pretty naïve if you think all drivers got their license legitimately, actually I have to rephrase that, if you think all drivers are tested properly and equally.

My mom wants me to take part in a morning communion every day and start going back to church. Kill me now.

I didn't shave for the last 2 1/2 weeks because I was on holidays, and was it ever a gg to do it this morning. Not sure if the convenience of ignoring it was worth it now. Probably took me half an hour.

I'm so old that 40 is a distant memory and I've not had the injuries many of the young-uns here have had. In fact, I've had one minor skiing injury and that's all.

Re-injuring my knee. I already had 3 surgeries in 10 months, I don't need this! Adding to my already sh*t-tastic week.
