Default Creating Remote Desktop Connection

I'm having little luck with Google and my own knowledge creating a Remote Desktop Connection between my work computer (no Network, VPN, Server, anything like that. It's basically the equivilant of a home computer hooked up to a wireless router) and my personal laptop.

I have tried by IP Address and Computer Name. I tried downloading something called VNC Viewer but all of them keep giving me a "No Response" error. I have disabled the firewall on the computer I'm trying to connect to, made exemptions to have Remote Connection allowed, added my username to the list of people allowed to access and gotten nothing.

Is there a simple way so I can get my laptop to connect to my work desktop? I don't need anything fancy, I just need to be able to access everything on that computer from my laptop so I can get to files and open the outlook program located on that computer.

Thanks!

The new goggles also do nothing.

www.logmein.com

For when you don't want to have to deal with all the firewalls and port forwarding and all that. The free version is everything I've ever needed.

I wish I could thank you 100x over.

It's easy, it works and it does everything I need it to. Thank you so much!

In case you want to do the file sharing and all and your home PC sits behind a router, RDP uses port 3389. So forwarding port 3389 to your home PC IP on your router setting will do the trick.

I'm a big fan of TeamViewer.
